Mr. Darcy, Vampyre

Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice are back. You may have thought you knew everything there was to know about Mr. Darcy but you don’t know the whole story. Darcy has a deep, dark secret. One that has been around in his family for many centuries. Elizabeth loves Darcy. How will she react when she learns the Darcy’s true identity?

I have to admit that I have never read Pride and Prejudice but I have always been interested in this time period. So I hadn’t experienced the love connection between Darcy & Elizabeth that fans of Jane Austen’s work have and loved. Amanda Grange is a new author to me. She has already written several other novels featuring Darcy & Elizabeth. I am a fan of vampires. So when I saw this book Mr. Darcy. Vampyre, I knew I had to check it out. I can’t share too much about my thoughts on this book as I tried really hard to get into this book but just couldn’t. I didn’t even finish it. I only got a third of the way through it. This was sad for me as I really wanted to like this book. What got me is that the story moved too slowly for me. Plus I wanted to get more to the heart of the story but all Darcy and Elizabeth did was travel around on their honey moon, which is as far as I got. Mr. Darcy. Vampyre missed the mark for me.

What is up with all these Pride & Prejudice spin offs? We got the one with the zombies, and now this? I don't understand, is it that hard to come up with a new character and a new world? I think I need to write a book, base it off of Hamlet or MacBeth. Ophelia doesn't drown...no "gasp" she is changed into a vampire and now is a love slave to the evil master vampire Beowolf...urgh. Thanks for the review.

I'll steer away from it, too. I'm getting my fill of vampire stories. A friend gave me Dead Until Dark and I'm enjoying it okay but find myself wanting to get it over with. The vampire thing is just getting too predictable, I guess.

ParaJunkee - I agre with you about spin offs, unless they are donw right than aviod them.

This applies also to movies and remakes.

Linda - I tried reading Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris and couldn't get into it. I don't understand the appeal with this series.
