My Life as a Concubine
Jean-Loup is French. He will be going back to France soon and wants Robin with him. Jean Loup and Robin end up moving to France as practically a married couple but living in France Robin ends up becoming his concubine. Loup means “The Wolf”. It is appropriate that Jean-Loup’s name means “The Wolf” as he just devours Robin in the bedroom. Robin and Jean-Loup get along just fine at first until Robin starts to meet Jean-Loup’s family and friends. This is when the adventure really begins for Robin. She has to try to adjust to living in France as well as speaking the language. My Life as a Concubine is Robin’s story as told by Robin herself. I thought it was very creative when at the beginning of the story when Robin was talking like it was a play. There would be the scene where she would fade in and then the scenes where she would fade out to explain what was going on at that moment. Robin had a great sense of humor about her.
