Audiobook Review: Beneath the Frost

Weston Vaughn has always been the most charming man in any room—until he saved my brother’s life and the accident took his leg.  Now he’s a gruff recluse and my new roommate. After my life goes up in flames on my wedding day, I become my small town’s favorite scandal. I want to lie low while the gossip dies down, but living with my parents feels impossible. Moving in with my brother’s best friend is my best option. He won’t ask for help and I won’t be dismissed. Trouble is, I like this gruff side of Wes, and despite his rules, I enjoy showing up for him. He’s adjusting to his new life, and when he finally admits his confidence is shot, well . . . I know exactly what he needs. I’m a  hands-on  kind of caretaker. Tensions rise as our tentative arrangement melts into sexy, forbidden lessons aimed to rebuild the confidence he’s lost. He thinks he’s broken, but all I see is an irresistible man with a firm grip and a filthy mouth. He’s walled off his heart, but all it ta...

Book Review: Right Where You Left Me

Image
The first time I laid my eyes on Matthew Williams, I knew he spelled trouble. Dark haired, broody and with eyes as tempestuous as the sea, he stole my breath away. The pull to become his friend was irresistible. Falling for him inevitable. Getting my heart broken inescapable. Now the reformed bad boy is back, working as a police officer in our small town. He wants to talk, but I’m determined to keep my distance. I may still be right where he left me, but I’m not the girl I used to be. Or so I’d like to think. However, when my ex boyfriend refuses to get the memo that we’re over, and nobody in Bluebonnet Creek believes Matthew has changed, we come to an agreement. Three months. Weekly dates. And absolutely no kissing. Faking it shouldn’t be hard, but the problem is, being with Matthew doesn’t feel fake at all. Then my life implodes, and he comes to my rescue. What if my life isn’t the only thing in danger, but also my heart? My Review I already did not like Jessica's ex-boyfriend....

Book Review: Beneath Her Sins

Image
The past they buried …became the future they couldn’t resist. Jedidiah: I was supposed to walk away clean. One dead man. One tempting woman. And a whole lot of blood on my hands. I never asked to be her savior. I damn sure wasn’t looking to be a priest. But penance tastes better than prison, and hiding in a collar kept my past where it belonged—six feet under. That is…until she showed up. In my church. On her knees. Now the woman I saved is playing the saint, whispering scripture while dragging hell back to my doorstep. I recognize her but I can’t prove she’s the devil sent to damn me. But my body can. Every taunt of her wicked words pulls me deeper. The worst part? I want her to ruin me. Sayuri: He was my salvation. And my destruction. He killed my husband and vanished, leaving me to take the fall. For years, I dreamed of finding him. Not to thank him. To burn him. Break him. Watch him bleed like I have all these years. Now I have found him again, preaching sermons in some forgo...

Book Review: Wild Darlin

Image
"You're a disgrace, Veda, but I'm about to fix your life!" The cutting words roll easily off my grandfather's tongue as he takes my baby away. My screams match the newborn's, but he never looks back, never once lets me hold her. The day after, without the doctor's say, he ships me to Wilde Ranch, hoping the fresh air is enough to change my ways. That’s where I meet Major, Jesse and Derrick. The three moody cowboys think I'm lazy, but I don't care what they think about me. My own flesh and blood says I'm a siren destroying good men. Days go by slowly at the ranch, one truth leads to another until there's nothing left between us. Everything falls into place and I'm done being a good girl and falling in line. Stronger than before, I march into the city and won't leave without my baby girl. But this time, I'm coming in with three cowboys by my side. Wild Darlin' is a why choose omegaverse full-length novel with three cowboys, ...

Audiobook Review: What We Want

Image
I've loved her since the moment she came into my life. My spiky, smart firecracker with the megawatt smile. I've loved her through her years long car crash of a relationship with a pretentious asshat, and I've loved her through the aftermath. And now that she's single, and enough time has passed for her to feel steady again, I know I've got to take action. And I can't think of a better place to finally, finally shoot my shot than at our best friends' wedding. But life has a bunch of twists and surprises I never could have anticipated, and... Well. All I can say is, WOW. Oh my god. WTF did I just do?! My Review Narrators, Lucy Rivers and William Macleod are amazing. Hearing their voices while listening to the audiobook was great. If you enjoy listening to audiobooks, you will want to download this one. I have not read the other previous books in this series but after  Leo and Sadie are good together. Ahh, Sadie. I wanted to shake her and say..."Woman, ...

Book Review: Sweet Like Candy

Image
Jason never deserved me. I know that now more than ever. He spun his web of lies and deceit so deep, and he had me fooled for far too long. But the truth always comes to light, one way or another. After suffering in our toxic relationship for over a year, I finally know my self-worth. I’m ready to take back my life, even if that means ending his. Knox came into my life like a wicked storm. Beautiful and brutal, turning my world upside down. He ignites a fire within me that I thought had long ago lost its spark. His passion and fury challenges me to embrace my darkness and fulfill my daunting desires. He says I’m sweet like Candy, but one can only stay sweet for so long. My Review As soon as I met Knox and he told Candy not to cry over her dead beat soon to be ex, I instantly fell in love with him. I love that he encouraged Candy to show her ex what a jerk he is and what he would never have again. Yep, that is because Knox claimed Candy as soon as he met her.  "Eyes on me swe...

Book Review: Transition

Image
Things are blossoming with Transition! The latest release in the Oakley's Crew series by Nicole Dykes is officially live! One Click Your Copy Today! Cover Designer: Ariadna Basulto with Chaotic Creatives Gabe My favorite principle in landscaping and in transition. In life? Not so much. I can’t stand change when it comes to my life. I was married to the same woman since I was in my early twenties and now I’m just supposed to move on from being married to being single. Sharing custody of our daughter. Transition works for landscaping. It’s the easiest thing for me. Making sure there’s a natural flow in everything we do. But that works because it’s gradual. This feels so abrupt, it’s jarring. I don’t know how to make this change. I’m not sure that I want to. Dakota I like my routine. I love being in my house, working from home and I realize that most think I’m weird. I couldn’t really care less what other people think. But when I hire Oakley’s Crew to build a new greenhouse, I feel th...

Audiobook Review: After the Storm

Image
When I agreed to my wife’s request for an open marriage, I didn’t anticipate she’d fall in love with another man and leave me. Alone now and drowning in self-destruction, I cling to memories of a trip to New Orleans nine months ago—the night I wandered into a movie theater called Paradise and spent an evening talking with the beautiful owner, Violet Devollier. Our connection was brief but intense. It was a connection so intense that when Hurricane Katrina devastates New Orleans, I’ll stop at nothing to return to Paradise and find Violet. But what good is a broken man in a broken city? To have any chance of a future with Violet, I’ll have to find the courage to piece myself back together as we rebuild Paradise after the storm. Book three of the award-winning Lost in Austin series, After the Storm, is a slow burn interracial romance which can be read as a standalone. It was the 2023 winner of the Readers’ Favorite Honorable Mention for Romance – Sizzle. My Review Where I live, I am...

Audiobook Review: Elder Creek

Image
You wouldn't believe me if i told you... Richard Kinners is prepared for a fresh beginning and moves to the tranquil, enigmatic town of Elder Creek. However, upon his arrival, he quickly realizes that things aren't quite as they appear. The neighbours seem to conceal more than they reveal, and initial impressions can be misleading. Richard is about to discover that he has encountered far more than he bargained for. My Review Michael Robbins is a new to me narrator. After listening to him narrate the audio version of this book, I do want to check out more audiobooks narrated by him. He did a really great job of bringing to life all of the characters.  It did not take me long to settle into the story. I got Twin Peaks vibes. Which I was vibing with. I liked the supernatural element of the story. It was not just your typical story. I can't say much as I don't want to give anything away. Yet. I will tell you that if you like supernatural stories that you will want to chec...

Book Review: Nabbed by the Bratva

Image
“If I catch you, I keep you. Now  run   .” I get caught up in a mafia shootout, and I guess I should have kept my eyes shut, because I end up looking a terrifying and gorgeous man in the face. Gray eyes. A scowl. And when the bullets stop flying, I expect to be left for dead. But the next thing I know, the Bratva boss has taken me to his country estate, and I’m his captive. He says it’s for my protection, but I’m not so sure. I beg my captor, but he’s stone. I try to escape, but he anticipates my every move. Finally, he gives me a choice. Play his game. I’m the prey, he’s the hunter. If I can get away, I win my freedom. If he catches me, he’ll hold me down and take  everything . Run . My Review Someone say stalker romance...yes, please!! When Kirill told Tess to run, I held my breath. Love me a chase scene. If Kirill was chasing me, I would not be running too fast. He can catch me all he wants.  If Tess is going to get kidnapped, she could not have asked for a...

Book Review: One More Bite

Image
He’s waited eighty years to find her. She was just trying to survive a bachelorette party. When Hazel walks into the Monster Resort, the last thing she expects is to become the obsession of a fiercely lonely vampire. Desmond is cold, most certainly lethal, and looking at her like she’s the only thing keeping him sane. As the chaotic weekend pushes them closer together, Hazel has a choice: run back to her safe, mundane life, or surrender to the monster who promises to never let her go. This short story features explicit scenes, consensual blood-drinking, and an eighty-year accumulation of looking for his blood-bound. Hide your necks and read responsibly! Any book in the Monster Resort series can be read as a standalone. My Review It is always a fun time when I check into the Monster Resort. This time Desmond is on the hunt to find his blood mate. As soon as he gets her scent, he gets up close and very personal with Hazel. Hazel thought she was just attending her sister's wedding. ...

Book Review: Lit

Image
“I think you missed one.” A tall, brunette woman extends a candelabra to me. A rather ornate model. “Hope it gives you everything you need.” Following a routine trip into town to replace his missing candle holders, Greg realizes he has received much more than he paid for. Add an injured runner looking for a place to wait out a storm, and Greg has his hands full. While attempting to better understand the candelabra, the group learns Greg has a much larger secret of his own. Will it cause a schism, or bring them all closer than ever? Lit is book 15 in the Kyleverse, a series of sentient object romance short stories. Kyle isn’t the main character, but he shows up to help the plot in one way or another. The stories are sequential but can be read as standalones. My Review A fun novella in this series. Just when you think you have thought of all the sentient object romances, Nicole goes nope...wrong. We have all watched Beauty and the Beast but how many of us looked at Lumière and thou...
