Book Review: Pine for Me

Image
He’s my Hollywood heartthrob ex-husband. My hot new neighbor. And, thanks to one reckless night, my soon-to-be baby daddy. Patton Pierce has a knack for showing up when I least expect him—my street, my salon, my martial arts studio. Even my dreams. Sure, I’ve pined for him over the past seven years, but if he thinks his low-slung gray sweatpants, backward cap, and infuriating grin will make me forget our past, then he’s in for a rude awakening. But then my sister’s bachelorette party happens, and I have one too many drinks. One ridiculous dare later, and I find myself “kissing the boy I used to love”. One kiss leads to one incredible night. And one night leads to  two very pink lines. Patton says he wants me back, that nothing would make him happier than to have this baby with me. But I’ve heard those words before. He chose Hollywood over me before, and he’ll choose it over me again. Still, with him taking care of my every craving—both in and out of the bedroom—it’s getting ...

Audiobook Review: Adrift

Rani Shah is everything I can’t have–too young, too sweet, too innocent. Not to mention, she’s my late wife’s sister and my son’s nanny. So when she asked me to kiss her, I should have refused. When she begged me to touch her, I could have turned her down. When she coaxed me to take the one thing she’s never given away–her virginity–a better man would have walked away. Should have, could have, would have . . . But I didn’t. She should have been living the carefree life of a nineteen-year-old. She could have avoided all my broken pieces and jagged edges. She would have been able to save herself before I got a taste. Should have, could have, would have . . . But she didn’t. Some love stories are forbidden from the start. Ours is one of them. My Review Let me tell you that the audiobook is the way to enjoy this book. Narrators, Simone Lewis and Aaron Shedlock brought this story to life. I could listen to them both all day. As if I would not already be engaged in this story as it is ...

Book Review: Pretend for Me

I botched a broody billionaire’s haircut, and what did he ask from me in repayment? That I become his fake fiancée! In my defense, my new migraine meds had packed quite the drowsy punch that morning. One minute I was trimming his GQ-worthy locks, and the next, I'd given him a side shave that would make a Marine jealous. Fast forward through a ticked-off Dev Menon storming out of my salon, threatening legal action, and I’m thinking the day couldn’t get worse. Except, it does . . . Dev returns hours later with a wild proposition: “Marry me. Temporarily.” Turns out his mother’s dying wish is to see him get hitched, and I’m the lucky girl who owes him a debt. The catch? I also have to move in with him to really sell the ruse. Soon enough, I’m realizing my career isn’t the only thing on the line with my hot-as-Hades fiancé. My heart is, too. So, I counter with a wilder proposition: a purely physical relationship with three simple rules. No kissing, no sleepovers, and definitely no fal...

Book Review: Abyss

There are many reasons I should have handed in my resignation the day I met my new boss, Hudson Case. First off, he’s the reason I lost my first waitressing job. Secondly, he’s gruff, grumpy, and another inconvenient g-word . . .  gorgeous . And to top it off,  he’s my good friend’s dad. Oh, and did I mention,  he’s also my new roommate ? Yeah, we’ll get to that in a sec. It all started when I begged my friend to get me a temp position working as her dad’s admin until my big move at the end of summer. Little did I know, her dad was the same jerk who callously fired me from my previous waitressing gig. He says I’m a walking migraine and a thorn in his side. So when I threaten to quit, why does his counteroffer include me moving in with him for  business reasons ? But before we know it, we’re mixing business with pleasure. A lot of pleasure. Suddenly nothing feels temporary anymore. But it has to be, right?  Because one way or another, our time together is ...

Book Review: Mother Pucker

Things that stress out this widowed single mom:  high fructose corn syrup, intrusive thoughts about my son getting swept up by a tornado,  and the sexiest hockey player to grace this planet. Oh, and the fact that  I’m also said hockey player’s physical therapist . But we’ll lock that tidbit away in the same nightstand as my battery-operated toys. Moving my son and me across the country to live with my three best friends and our seven children into one dilapidated Boston brownstone should have been the biggest risk I’ve ever taken–not figuring out how to protect my heart, career, and panties while trying to navigate my secret double life. But Rowan ‘Slick’ Parker is nothing if not hell-bent on taking slapshots at my comfort zone. The more I try to keep things professional, the more he works to break the rules with his charming grin, piercing gaze, and world-class rear end. Not to mention, he adores my son. So, I finally give in. Don’t worry, though, it’s all tempora...
