Cool for the Summer Part 5

One weekend that was supposed to be spent relaxing by the pool and taking care of her friend’s cat turns into a night spent with… Greg.

He’s blue. He’s inflatable. He’s got a filthy mouth, an attitude problem, and absolutely no business being alive.

Court knows she probably has a few questionable life choices to reevaluate after this weekend.

Greg might just be her most questionable one yet.

My Review

Court was just enjoying herself in the pool, lounging on the pool floatie. She never in her wildest dreams expected the floatie to satisfy her. The floatie has a name and it is Greg. Greg has a mortal enemy and that is cats.

"His whole body shakes and wiggles as it continues to squeak like a dog playing with a chew toy."

The squeaking is hilarious! It kind of is a mood killer until you get used to it. When Court's leg slide right off Greg's shoulder I laughed out loud. This novella is a funny read.

Miami is melting, the AC is dead, and Tiamara is one minor inconvenience away from losing her damn mind.

She just didn't expect that inconvenience to be a splinter.

One drop of blood on the creepy wooden shelf in her apartment is all it takes for the temperature to plummet, her inhibitions to disappear, and her roommate to suddenly look far too tempting.

Then the shelf starts talking.

Arrogant, possessive, and definitely not as inanimate as it should be, the thing hiding inside that waterlogged piece of pirate junk has been waiting a long time to break free.

And apparently, Tiamara is exactly what it needs.

What begins as one heat-induced lapse in judgment quickly sinks into something darker, wetter, and far more monstrous than Tia ever bargained for.

Because some splinters aren't meant to be pulled out.

Some are meant to get under your skin.

Brace your hulls. The Captain is about to go down with the ship.

My Review

If you had ever told me there would be a sentient story about a splinter, I would have looked at you like you lost your mind. Splinters are not sexy. They are annoying and a nuisance. They can hurt, especially when you get a big one, long one, or one that snaps in half and leaves the other half in your finger.

"Well, it certainly wasn't a toothpick, that's for dang sure."

I enjoyed this novella so much. The pirate theme is great. Not to mention all of the "corny" references. They made the story. I will be reading this story to my husband, so he can share in the laughter. Aye matey!

Delaney only wanted a lazy afternoon by the pool.

Then she found Sol.

Warm to the touch, impossible to lose, and a little too eager to cover every inch of her, he takes sun protection very fucking seriously.

Because Sol has one job... keep Delaney from burning.

And he’ll get under her skin to do it.

Burn Baby Burn is a short MF sentient-object erotic horror featuring a human FMC, an obsessive and possessive male sunscreen bottle. This is a dark, bizarre Cool for the Summer short story and does not contain a traditional HEA.

My Review

This is one spicy novella! If you don't use sunscreen, this story either will make you want to put some on or not. Although, I suggest purchasing a fresh bottle and not using random, old bottles left from prior tenants.

Delaney forgot her sunscreen but luckily the apartment, she is staying at had a bottle left there. She applies it and she starts to experience an almost outer body experience.

I really liked the subtle change and tone of the story. The ending...mindblown!

Miami is hot as hell, Manuel’s apartment’s A/C is dead, and the last thing he expects is to get trapped inside an elevator with an attitude.

But Elle isn’t your average elevator.

She controls the buttons, the temperature, and exactly how long he stays trapped inside her shaft. And once she starts calling him Papi, things go from uncomfortable to completely unhinged.

With every floor, Elle pushes his buttons in all the wrong—or very right—ways, turning one sweaty elevator ride into a battle of teasing, control, and increasingly questionable attraction.

Because when the doors close and the temperature rises, there’s only one way to go.

Down My Shaft.

My Review

Her name is Ellie as in Ellie Vator. She has a bigger shaft. I laughed so hard when she said, "Come in, Papi." All of the innuendos are hilarious. This novella is definitely an entertaining read. Even the neighbor in the apartment complex approved. No judgement here. I recommend this book. It is one of my favorites in this series.

Heatwaves make everyone a little crazy.

But when my fan dies at one in the morning, my toys betray me … well, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Thankfully, my window A/C is ready to blow. Literally.

He’s cold. He’s possessive. He’s energy-efficient.
And apparently, he can talk.

Unfortunately.

What starts as an innocent attempt to cool down quickly becomes the most cringe-worthy summer fling of my life, but the A/C promises to handle all my heat-related problems.

And according to him?

My Review

The temptation of the A/C unit blowing cool air on a hot summer day is hard to resist. We have all at one point stood in front of the unit to feel the cold air on our bodies.

"Feel the breeze, baby."

The air may be cold, but the temperature is still hot!
