Back in 1972, in a town called DeClare, Oklahoma; a terrible and tragic act was committed. Two lives were lost….Gaylene Harjo and her son, Nicky Jack. Gaylene’s body was found stabbed to death but the strangest part of the whole situation was Nicky James. No one every found him. Everyone feared the worse had happened to Nicky James like his mother especially after his pajama bottoms were discovered by the river bank. Thirty years have passed and everyone has forgotten. A stranger by the name of Mark Albright shows up in town. He starts asking questions about Gaylene and her son, Nicky James. The sheriff gets suspicious and checks into Mark. What the sheriff finds out about Mr. Albright will leave him speechless. So people don’t appreciate Mr. Albright coming into town asking his questions and opening wounds again. In fact you could say some people will go to the extremes to keep their secrets from being uncovered. First off I have to comment and say that I thought Shoot the Moon was

Susannah is hoping that the second times the charm. In ten days, Susannah is getting married again. Before that can happen, Susannah’s soon to be ex-husband comes back into the picture. Ryan Sanderson is the Denver Maverick’s star quarterback. He is ready to make some changes in his life and that includes starting with his wife, Susannah. Ryan tells Susannah that if she agrees to spend the remaining ten days with him….uninterrupted then he will allow the divorce to go through. As much as Susannah and her fiancé, Henry does not like the idea, Susannah agrees. Besides it’s only ten days with her soon to be ex-husband. What’s the worse that can happen? For me the characters in Line of Scrimmage , both Susannah and Ryan are what made the book so enjoyable for me. The chemistry they shared between them as well as the personalities about them was great. Ryan is every woman’s fantasy...a hot, sexy, macho football player. I have not read many sports romance books, in fact I can count how many

I have read good things about this book, so when Ms. Blevins offered to send six copies out to readers on LibraryThing I jumped at the chance. So glad I did. Years ago when Hannah Cameron’s husband, Alan came back from the war wounded he wasn’t alone. Alan was accompanied by a little girl named Maggie. Maggie was no ordinary girl. She was the only lone survivor of her town’s massacre. Now the years have past and Maggie is all grown up and Hannah and Alan are gone. The townsfolk have a name for Maggie; they call her “Dark Maggie”. At first when people started calling her that it was because she had dark hair but now the name has a whole new meaning... it’s because the townsfolk believe that Maggie is cursed and possess the dark eye. One day an outsider plays a visit to town. He offers Maggie a chance to make her own way in the land of freedom, known as America. Maggie agrees and sets sail for America. Once there, Maggie is bought by a man named Seth Martin. This is when the adventure r

Ok so for those of you who are regulars of my blog, you know that I like to introduce readers to new authors. Well this time is no different. I was contacted by June Phyllis Baker to see if I would be interested in reading her book... No Regrets . It only took me all of about a few seconds to say yes, once I read the concept for this book. Arlene Sinclair lives in the small town of Sunny Hill. Arlene is a reporter, who is ready to make a name for herself. Arlene is tried of writing fluff stories and wants to move on to the hard core stuff. Sheriff Lance Carter tries to keep everything in order in his town. The one thing he can’t control is Arlene. Every time Sheriff Carter turns around Arlene is there, armed with her pen and paper. The most annoying part of this whole situation for Sheriff Carter is that he is falling in love with Arlene. He can’t stop thinking about her. Strange things start happening in Sunny Hill. It seems someone wants to harm one of the residents of Sunny Hi

Have a Bite

Lust Bites is anthology of three vampire stories by erotic authors, Kristina Lloyd, Portia Da Costa, and Mathilde Madden. Vampire’s Heart by Kristina Lloyd For many centuries, one woman has haunted Billy Dresner III’s dreams. Her name is Selin. She was a vampire. Billy loved her and would never harm Selin intentionally. Selin is dead; killed by Billy’s own hands. Billy now has a second chance at redemption. Selin has been reborn in the form of a human named Esther. Esther and her team of explorers are out in the Arctic. This happens to be the same place Billy makes his home. A lot of things can go bump in the night in a place where the sun rarely shines. Billy is the most dangerous type of vampire. A vampire who is obsessed with a woman and knows no boundaries. Esther seemed feeble to me. I was surprised by this fact as I felt someone who was suppose to be Billy’s greatest love reborn would have been stronger. The dreams Esther had about her and Billy were enough to make the ice melt

I have been eyeing this author's books for a while but just haven't got around to reading one of them. Well thanks to J. Kaye I was able to. Thanks J. Kaye. One of the most unbelievable things has happened. Twelve year old, Daniel Linwood has returned home. So your probably saying so what’s the big deal about that? Well the big deal is that five years ago Daniel Linwood vanished. The police, his family and the community searched but never found a single trace of what happened to young Daniel. Now here he is, standing on his parents door step without a single scratch on him as if he never was gone. Henry Parker is a reporter with the New York Gazette. Henry’s boss gives him the assignment of interviewing the Linwood family reunion story. While interviewing Daniel, Henry learns someone or something more sinister is behind a whole string of children disappearing just the same way as Daniel did. Henry could have just stumbled on one of the biggest stories of his career. There is

The Likeness

I want to again thank Kate with Penguin for sending me The Likeness by Tana French. Cassie Maddox is no longer with the Murder Squad. Cassie receives a phone call from her boyfriend, Sam to come down to Glenskehy to view a body. She can’t help but wonder what’s so important about the victim that Sam would call her? Once Cassie arrives in Glenskehy to her surprise and amazement the female victim looks exactly like Cassie. In fact the victim could very well pass as Cassie’s twin. But that’s not the most shocking thing. The id found on the victim says her name was Alexandra “Lexie” J. Madison. Cassie knows that name all too well. Years ago when Cassie worked undercover, she went by the name of Lexie Madison. Now Cassie is living the life of Lexie again. Someone she never thought she would ever have to be again. I was glad to see that Tana French’s second book The Likeness featured Cassie Maddox this time. Readers got introduced to Cassie in Ms. French’s first novel In the Woods . I th

My Interview with J. Scott Savage

Image
Ok, so yesterday you read my review. Well today you can read my interview. After my interview is instructions on how you can win a ARC copy of Farworld: Water Keep that will be autographed by Mr. Savage himself. First off let me start be thanking you for doing this interview. I promise I will be easy on you as FarWorld: Water Keep is your first YA book. Hehe Easy? Does that mean no algebra questions? Have you always been into fantasy books? I’ve always been a fantasy reader and lover, but this is my first foray into writing them. If you could meet anyone died or alive, who would it be and why? Well I think it would be pretty yucky to meet someone dead. And they’d probably be ticked off at getting pulled out of their graves. I’d love to pick the brains of someone like JK Rowling though, or Stephen King. I’d love to talk writing with them. I know he’s dead, but how cool would it be to discuss writing with Tolkien? Do you find that your taste in books and movies differ? If yes why. Def

I saw this fun idea over at Booking Mama http://bookingmama.blogspot.com/ . Her friend Amy came up with the idea. Read here Amy from My Friend Amy has a terrific idea -- she's doing a Book Blogger Appreciation Week during September 15th - 19th. Here's the basic information from her post: Book Bloggers: You work hard. You read books, you write reviews, you maintain relationships with your readers, publicists, and authors. You are constantly running to the post office to mail your giveaways and participating in carnivals to help boost traffic. You sometimes want to faint when you see the size of your TBR pile, but faithfully you read. And you do it because you love it. Book blogging is for most a hobby. But it's a hobby that takes a lot of work and time. It's a labor of love. Amy has been blogging for three years but only really got into book blogging in the last year. She have found, without a doubt, that book bloggers are the kindest, most open minded, and supportive g

Keeping with the theme, I am going to tag at least 3 bloggers. They should put these same lists on their blog but SUBTRACT one book from each list and ADD one of their own. Then they should tag at least 3 more bloggers. It will be fun to see how the lists change as it goes around the blogosphere. Please come back to this post and leave a comment so I can see how the lists are changing as they go around the blogosphere. Since this is Book Buzz...please keep your lists to titles released in 2007-2009. My Life as a Concubine

Jean-Loup is French. He will be going back to France soon and wants Robin with him. Jean Loup and Robin end up moving to France as practically a married couple but living in France Robin ends up becoming his concubine. Loup means “The Wolf”. It is appropriate that Jean-Loup’s name means “The Wolf” as he just devours Robin in the bedroom. Robin and Jean-Loup get along just fine at first until Robin starts to meet Jean-Loup’s family and friends. This is when the adventure really begins for Robin. She has to try to adjust to living in France as well as speaking the language. My Life as a Concubine is Robin’s story as told by Robin herself. I thought it was very creative when at the beginning of the story when Robin was talking like it was a play. There would be the scene where she would fade in and then the scenes where she would fade out to explain what was going on at that moment. Robin had a great sense of humor about her. Well she would have to seeing as she has to put up with Jean-L
