Nick and Tesla's Secret Agent Gadget Battle: A Mystery with Spy Cameras, Code Wheels, and Other Gadgets You Can Build Yourself

Image
This is my favorite book in this series thus far. It is because I have imagined myself as a secret agent many times and wondered what it would be like. Of course, I am one of the best agents around...well in my dreams anyways. So read about Nick and Tesla trying to uncover the mystery of the stolen necklace was fun. In fact, I mind this time actually break down and make the gadgets in this book along with my nephews. I always love the drawn out picture of the elaborate plan on how Nick and Tesla are going to distract their target and solve the mystery. It usually involves an eagle. Don't worry as no real animals including eagles were harmed in the making of this book. Well I don't believe so anyways. These books are quick reads. Nick and Tesla may not wish for this but I hope that their parents don't come back anytime soon. However I would have liked to see their uncle more in the book. He is so entertaining and a skatterbrain. I loved the new addition to the group wi...

NICK AND TESLA’S HIGH-VOLTAGE DANGER LAB

Image
Nick and Tesla are brother and sister. Their parents have gone to Uzebkistan. They have sent Nick and Tesla to stay with their uncle for the summer. When they arrive they find their uncle covered in orange goo. He is a scientist. He tells Nick and Tesla that they are welcome to use his lab. When Nick and Tesla go investigating the neighborhood, they find that they will have to get creative building gadgets to save themselves from mean dogs and bad guys. Think the movie Home Alone. This book is a keeper. I read this book in 1 day. This book kind of reminded me of the choose your own adventure books. Not that this is one of those books but the fact that you can build some of the gadgets that Nick and Tesla use in the book makes it very interactive. You just may want to purchase two copies of this book. 1 to keep and 1 to give as a present. Besides you will want to keep a copy so that you can build all the cool gadgets. You know you will build them. This book brings back the lit...

The Crack in the Lens

Image
Brothers, Otto “Big Red” and Gustav “Old Red” Amlingmeyer are back. This time things are personal. A long time ago, Old Red’s fiancée, Adeline was murdered. Old Red has carried regret with him that he was not in town, when Adeline was killed. Big and Old Red does some investigating to finally get justice for Adeline. What they uncover just may be more than the brothers can handle. The Crack in the Lens is the fourth book Holmes on the Range mystery. I have not read any of the prior three novels. This book can be read as a stand alone novel. I am a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, which I believe is probably a common theme with mystery readers. This book kind of reminded me of the old Sherlock Holmes stories. The characters talked in simple terms but there were plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing. Big and Old Red makes a great team. Old Red is more of the beat them up type, whereas; Big Red is the thinker and can calm Old. I was cheering for Big and Old to get their man. Though a...

Watch out for the Dawn of the Dreadfuls

Image
My review: Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters don’t have a care in the world, other than finding good husbands to marry. While attending a funeral, Elizabeth and her sisters hear an awful howling sound. It is the sound of the undead. They are coming. Mr. Bennet wants his daughters to be prepared to defend themselves, so he hires Master Hawksworth to train his daughters to become vicious slayers. Dr. Keckilpenny is a bright scientist. He also joins the fight against the undead but his ways are more unorthodox. Dr. Keckilpenny believes he can interact with the undead versus killing them. Elizabeth feels something for both men but who will she choose? If you are looking for something a bit different to read, then you might try Dawn of the Dreadfuls. This book is the prequel to Price and Prejudice and Zombies. This book is based on events four years prior to PPZ. I have never read PPZ so I have nothing to compare it to in regards to if this book was a good prequel or not. What I can say abou...
