Book Review: Breathless

Image
Former model and current recluse Jules Lowe would prefer to spend the rest of her life locked inside her apartment doing nothing more than fixating on her empty fish tank and chatting away on a local aquarium forum. But when her online crush sends her an inadvertently suspicious picture, Jules' curiosity gets the best of her. Who  or what  is Mack Vasser? Even Jules’ fear of the outside world can’t stop her from exploring further. And while venturing out to track down Mack is scary enough, discovering he's part-fish, part-man is a shock of a lifetime. Even more shocking is Jules' confusing attraction to him which has her leaving her apartment again and again. Unfortunately for Jules, she isn't the only person who's aware that creatures like Mack exist. And now that she's gotten herself involved, she's risking not only her feelings, but  both their safety, in a world where nobody seems to know who the real monsters are. My Review I have read a bunch of Cat...

Book Review: Going Down

Image
Colin Rush is an overworked hotshot at a Big Four consulting firm. His neighbor Emma Smith is a cutesy but reserved first grade teacher who’s never so much as glanced in his direction. Needless to say, Colin’s positive that Emma’s not his type, and, in turn, Emma thinks Colin is an intimidating player, and probably a jerk. Frankly, they avoid each other at all costs. But they do have one thing in they both hate Valentine’s Day. So, when a rainy-day power outage traps Emma and Colin inside their building's elevator, they inadvertently become each others’ defacto (and begrudging) Valentines. Now they have no choice but to sit in each other's presence...and maybe even find out what else they have in common, too. Will close quarters allow Cupid to work some holiday magic between them? Or will the elevator be the only thing going down on February 14th? My Review I love this spicy enemies to lovers novella. Cat always knows how to bring the heat! I have read several of her books no...

Book Review: Jingle Bell Games

Image
Lara Blunt is a grouch, but she’s a grouch who works at the merriest little Christmas shop in town, The Jingle Bell. Lara can’t wait for her Christmas Eve shift to end so she can sulk at home by herself with a bottle of rum. Her manager (and the owner’s son!) Leo Nicoli, on the other hand, is full of holiday cheer, and he’s had his eyes on Lara since the day she stomped into his store. Unfortunately for Leo, Lara’s been immune to his charms, and now he’s running out of time to win her over. But when Leo and Lara get locked into a broom closet together right before closing time, all holiday bets are off. Maybe Leo can finally get the Christmas gift he’s been hoping for—Lara’s affection. And maybe Lara can finally begin to feel a little Christmas spirit, courtesy of the most festive guy in town. Either way, it’s guaranteed to be a Christmas Eve neither will ever forget. My Review This is a quick, steamy novella. I love a good grumpy/sunshine romance read. This is the second one tha...
