Starpassage: Book Four, Cyber Plague

Image
The fourth book in the popular YA adventure series, StarPassage, is a thrilling, non-stop odyssey across time. Mike Hernandez and the Coleman twins return, but just when the friends think they have the Star of Passage, it’s riddles, and Orion’s Belt figured out, they discover a new relic. All of Tim and Martie’s rules are tossed aside when Tocho, a member of the Native American Shoshoni tribe which roamed the Rocky Mountains, knocks on Callie and Courtney’s Astoria, Oregon door with the mysterious Star of Hope. The new relic has the shocking ability to transport the teens forward in time, where cartels and gangs are a rising threat and technology has advanced so far that computer viruses affect humans. As Mike, Callie, Courtney, and Tocho struggle to remain free of the virus, they also have to dodge the shadowy Trackers, those wicked souls who are doomed to haunt history and desire the relics to free themselves from their eternal prison.  The teens find themselves racing to ...

StarPassage: Heroes and Martyrs

The award-winning StarPassage saga continues with the relic guiding the Carsons to a new and desperate family. Two brothers, Bobby and Mike, are struggling after a tragic accident turns their world upside down. Join our heroes on a series of dangerous adventures to solve the relic's riddles, save lives, escape the ever-increasing Tracker threat, and experience some of the most dreadful and exciting moments in history. Will they learn from the past--should they change it if they can? Is there any hope for survival? My Review Just like the first book, I enjoyed this book. It was nice to see Tim and Martie again. They were first introduced in book one. This time they are taking what they learned about the star and applying it to help Bobby and his older brother, Mike. As was the situation with the first book, the star had a lot to share with Bobby and Mike. Again, each place that the group traveled, they met different people who were valuable to the brothers and the healing p...

Teenagers Tim and Martie are desperate to end their parents’ downward spiral. Between their father’s PTSD and their mother’s depression, their family has reached a breaking point. Then an ancient Christmas ornament reveals its secrets, sending the siblings across the centuries on a search for hope. But Tim and Martie aren’t the only ones hunting through time. They’re being watched by dark figures—Trackers doomed to haunt history. These Trackers believe the teens’ ornament is their key to freedom, and they will do whatever it takes to steal it. What begins as an exciting adventure becomes a deadly race. Can Tim and Martie find the answers they seek before their enemy finds them? My Review I am familiar with Mr. Burbidge's work as I read and enjoyed his Giants in the Land trilogy. This new book is no different. I enjoyed reading this one. The way the author helped Tim and Martie relate to their father's PTSD and family problems was creative with the magical star that took...

Giants Rule

Thomas awoke just like he did every day. Only this day was different. The giants have all disappeared. The giants helped the townsfolk by doing work. Without them, what will the townsfolk do? Thomas volunteers to do in search of the giants and bring them back. I have never heard of this author. To be honest, if I had not had the chance to review this book, I probably still would never know about this author. This would have been a shame. Before I read this book I thought it was going to be a children's book. While it can be, you would have to read it to the younger children as there are a lot of words. The older children can read this book on their own. There is nothing too scary about the giants. In fact, this book is a family book. Mr. Burbidge inserts a good lesson in this book for all to learn from...that no matter how daunting the task at hand may seem, you don't need a "giant" or anyone else to do the work for you. You are capable of ...
