When the Germans march into Denmark, Baron Henrik Ahlefeldt exchanges his nobility for anonymity, assuming a new identity so he can secretly row messages for the Danish Resistance across the waters to Sweden. American physicist Dr. Else Jensen refuses to leave Copenhagen and abandon her research--her life's dream. While printing resistance newspapers, she hears stories of the movement's legendary Havmand--the merman--and wonders if the mysterious and silent shipyard worker living in the same boardinghouse has something to hide. When the Occupation cracks down on the Danes, these two passionate people will discover if there is more power in speech . . . or in silence. Bestselling author of more than a dozen WWII novels, Sarah Sundin offers pens another story of ordinary people responding to extraordinary circumstances with faith, fortitude, and hope for a brighter future. Anchor in the Storm

In a time of sacrifice, what price can one put on true love? Nothing slows Lillian Avery down--not her personal challenges and certainly not America's entry into World War II. She finally has a chance to prove herself as a pharmacist in Boston. The demands of her new job energize her. But society boy Ensign Archer Vandenberg's attentions only annoy--even if he  is  her brother's best friend. During the darkest days of the war, Arch's destroyer hunts German U-boats in vain as the submarines sink dozens of merchant ships along the East Coast. Still shaken by battles at sea, Arch notices his men also struggle with their nerves--and with drowsiness. Could there be a link to the large prescriptions Lillian has been filling? As the danger rises on both land and sea, the two must work together to answer that question. But can Arch ever earn Lillian's trust and affection? Review by Blanche Mancuso I am a fan of this author's. Every book that I have read by th...

In Perfect Time

Book Summary Flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, but C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper is immune to her charms. Throughout Italy and southern France, as she evacuates the wounded and he delivers paratroopers and supplies, every beat of their hearts draws them where they don't want to go. Review by Blanche Mancuso I have read several books by this author and have loved them all. I really enjoyed her novel "In Perfect Time. " This book is book three of the Wings of Nightingale series. However if you have not read books one and two it is ok. Each book can be read and savored as stand alone novels. I would recommend that you do read books one and two as you will find like I have that this author is great and so are her books. I love the story about the officers and nurses who served at the end of World War II.  Each has their own agenda in life, from heart break to finding their way. I loved the time frame the story was told in.  I lo...

On Distant Shores

Review by Blanche Mancuso All who read On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin will be swept away with the romance of Lt. Taylor and her friend Hutch (a pharmacist) as they follow the leading of God’s spirit in their own life and those of like people in World War II, who sacrifice so much for us, and showing service in the military as people are servicing the almighty God. As they give up all their dreams and common life to service their Commander and Chief –the Almighty God. Lt. Taylor, Hutch, the doctors and nurses come to life as they give their account of the war and the sacrifices of both the people service in the military and the civilian lives they touch. Following the lives of the doctors, nurses, enlisted men and those at home who continue to make God in charge in all ways. I loved the purity of the characters and their love for one another in war time. They overcame each obstacle as it comes their way and it makes them better people in the process. It shows that that w...

Mellie Blake lost her mother at a young age and her father’s job as a botanist in the jungle left Mellie as a loner. She is anti-social. It is very hard for Mellie to make friends. Mellie actually prefers it this way. That is until Mellie is instructed to make friends or her ob could be in jeopardy. One of the ways that Mellie makes friends is by being a pen pal to a soldier. The catch is that everyone in the pen pal program is anonymous. Lt. Tom MacGilliver has tried to hide but it is hard when everyone is familiar with your last name. That is why Tom is excited about the pen pal program. He can make friends without anyone knowing who he is. A chance meeting with Mellie might change things. I have read every book by Mrs. Sundin and I am a fan of hers and aviation. So I get the best of both worlds when I read her books. I am excited about her new series. After reading With Every Letter I am more excited then ever to read the next book in this series. I loved every moment of t...
