Friendship is what it is all about in Bridges

Image
It’s a piece of news Daphne never expected to hear: Her globe-trotting friend Skylar, who vowed never to get married, is engaged! Time to celebrate in Manhattan—Skylar’s treat, of course. After years scaling the corporate ladder, she can more than afford it. Daphne arrives in NYC with news of her own—the novel she’s finally finished appears to be going nowhere but the trash bin of every publishing house around. She’s devastated but plans to keep her disappointment under wraps, something that becomes trickier when she sees Skylar’s spectacular apartment. Could her life have been like this if she’d chosen a different path? What Daphne doesn’t know is she’s not the only one with a secret. Skylar and their friend KC are also holding something back, but what? As the trip unfolds, the truth about each woman emerges, along with tears. And laughter. And love. The fun-loving trio readers fell for in Wait for the Rain is together once more. Here's to the power of friendship! My Review ...

Wait for the Rain

Image
Daphne White is staring down the barrel of forty—and is distraught at what she sees. Her ex-husband is getting remarried, her teenage daughter hardly needs her anymore, and the career she once dreamed about has somehow slipped from her grasp. She’s almost lost sight of the spirited and optimistic young woman she used to be. As she heads off to a Caribbean island to mark the new decade with her best friends from college, Daphne’s in anything but the mood to celebrate. But when she meets Clay Hanson, a much younger man, she ignores her inner voice warning her that she’s too old for a fling. In fact, this tropical getaway might be the perfect opportunity to picture her future in a new sun-drenched light. With the help of her friends, Daphne rediscovers her enthusiasm for life, as well as her love for herself—and realizes that her best years are still ahead. My Review I am familiar with this author's Waverly Bryson series. I did see some of that same humor in this book. Skylar an...

It's a Waverly Life

Image
Waverly and her friends are dealing with married life and new relationships. For Waverly, this is scary. Jake McIntyre is the first serious guy that Waverly has dated since her fiancé broke up with her. The stress of not wanting to mess things up with Jake is getting to Waverly and making her push Jake away. As if that was not enough. Waverly has to deal with a new job. It’s a Waverly Life is book two of the Waverly Bryson books. I would recommend reading Perfect on Paper first. This book is focused on the after effects of what happened in the first one. I didn’t find myself laughing as much in this book as I did with the first one but I still had a good time reading it. I loved Jake. I keep thinking he can not be a man but a saint to put up with Waverly. Waverly reminds me of Lucille Ball. Always finding herself inserting her foot or in some cases both feet into her mouth. I have to admit that while Waverly’s Joke was corny, I liked it. Here it is: “There are two peanuts walking down...

Interview

Image
As promised. Here is my interview with author, Maria Murnane. I want to thank you for letting me interview you. Oh gosh, it’s my pleasure. Really! How do you like to start off your morning? Every weekday morning I do the same thing—drag myself out of bed, make a pot of coffee, and sit down and read the New York Times for an hour. I love that time of day—and every morning I look out the window at the sea of cars driving into downtown San Francisco and remind myself how lucky I am that I don’t have to commute in traffic to a job I hate! Then after I’m done with the paper I walk about 20 feet into my office, check my email, and start my day. JWhat was your favorite book growing up? As a kid I read every Beverly Cleary book I could get my hands on, and when I got a little older I also tore through the Judy Blume books. (“ Deenie” was one of my favorites.) I also read a bunch of the Black Stallion books, and I remember being obsessed with “ A Wrinkle in Time,” in fourth grade, although...

Nobody's Perfect

Image
Ok, so I have seen this book popping up all over the internet. I knew I just had to read it for myself. So what is the book you ask? It is Perfect on Paper by Maria Murnane. Read my review below and than come back tomorrow for my interview with Maria. Waverly Bryson has just been dumped by her fiancé. Waverly is through with men. Luckily for Waverly she has friends like Andie and McKenna to help her pick up the pieces. Friends are great but nothing beats a couple good stiff drinks. Just one piece of advice and that is “Always drink in moderation”; unfortunately for Waverly she should have followed this advice, especially while attending a business event. Not a great way to represent Jag, the company Waverly works for in the sports public relation’s department. For Waverly not all is lost when she meets Jake. To find out if Waverly and Jake hook up, you will have to read Perfect on Paper for yourself. Waverly has got to be one of the most hilarious characters I have met. When she aro...
