Book Review: The Curse Breakers

Image
What do you do when the gate to hell opens and all the creepy crawlies come rushing out? I failed. But that doesn’t mean I’m giving up. My heart may be shattered by Colin’s betrayal, but I refuse to let humanity pay the price. After a disastrous trip to a self-professed expert in the Lost Colony, I’m running out of ideas. Taunted by vengeful demons, all I have to fight them is a vague memory of the curse passed through my family and the practically useless information I find on the internet. Every day brings the world closer to being overrun by demons. I fear I will have to face the god Okeus’s wrath alone until an unexpected offer of help comes from the most unlikely of places. I’m terrified to trust him, but with the fate of the world on the line, how can I say no? The second book in The Curse Keepers Series ratchets up the romantic tension and raises the stakes to impossible heights as Ellie races to save not just her friends but the world. My Review Just like the first book, I di

Book Review: Voyeur

My life has been a hard one. Sometimes seeming unbearable. But things have been on the upswing in years since I took the reins back. That was, until I seen Emery Stanner, C.E.O. of Stanner Enterprises on the news. Something about his eyes, his face, brought the nightmares I’ve fought for years to keep away. All the therapy, all the hypnosis, went right out the window. Now, I’m hellbent on getting closer to him. To getting rid of the nightmares for good. By getting my revenge. When Carina Eder walks into my office, her curvy body short-circuiting my brain instantly, I don’t fully comprehend the danger she poses. Something about her is familiar. Something about her has memories my mind repressed for years flooding back to me like tidal waves of ruination. I’m obsessed with knowing the truth. Knowing what I did to her. Knowing why she’s here. She’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. When she’s at home, her hair disarrayed, her thick-framed glasses on, is when she’s at

A paranoid schizophrenic with a dark passenger lurking in the shadows. A broken Siren who would give anything to end her curse. A mystery girl with the traumas of her past written on her body. Pandora's Box has been opened, and to reclaim their identities they will have to determine what is real, what is fantasy, and face the darkness within. **This is a dark romantic fantasy intended for mature audiences. If you like the ruthless side of the Greek Gods, this series is for you. Please cheack the author's website for CW's. My Review The opening scene of this book grabbed my attention. Instantly, I was sucked into this story. It is dark and twisty. It does touch on mental health among other things. So do check the triggers first or if you are ok with everything and want to go into this book blind do so. It is an experience. The gorgeous and haunting world that Dawn created is great.  This book features three main characters, Brooks, Xia, and Lytta. Although Brooks is the ma

Madison Astor has had a crush on her best friend’s father, James, for years. She often refers to him playfully as, “DILF” behind his back. For months, James has been confiding in Madison about his separation from his toxic wife and they’ve developed their own friendship through text and his frequent visits to Abruzzo’s Jazz Club where she works.   Jade This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Jade was supposed to return home, reschedule that interview, go back to classes, and continue her life as if nothing had happened. Book Review: Sin With Me

Image
They say forbidden fruit is the sweetest sin and the biggest temptation, but they’ve clearly never met her. She’s sunshine and innocence. Hot summer days and golden smiles. She’s everything I want and nothing I need. Choosing her will change everything. But with one taste, I realize I don’t care. The biggest question is… Will she fall from grace and Sin With Me? The Father The Son And the Unholy Temptress. Three lives joined by fate, destroyed by evil, and saved by grace. Three hearts tethered by lies, devoured by lust, and ruined by greed. Welcome to Divinity Falls, where secrets are worth killing for. Love doesn’t always win, and nothing is as it seems. My Review This is not a book but a tome. It is thicc. Yet, I can guarantee that it is worth the read. It is broken into various sections journaling Roman and Eve's stories. Warning through that if you are not ok with anything that you do check out the triggers first.  There are so many emotions connecting Roman, Isacc, and Eve.

Book Review: Bronx

Image
Imagine seeing your ex who is now a cop, for the second time since returning home, as he's bringing your son home... As soon as the door clicks into place, I release the nervous breath I had been holding having to deal with Bronx. And in this situation, where my son had to be brought home by him in handcuffs. Which reminds me, I have a child, who not only left earlier without telling me where he was going, but also didn’t answer his phone the three times I called, and was brought home by the police after ten o’clock. Oh, and then there’s the smoking with other kids in the park. I feel like I’m failing already, and I haven’t even started really doing this whole single mom thing yet. My Review I absolutely loved this book. After Slade, I was looking forward to reading Bronx's story. OMG, the emotions! My heart broke but luckily, it was healed.  The opening scene when Mallory and Bronx were teens and Mallory said goodbye to Bronx and walked out of his life. Then when they had th

Book Review: A Haunting at Linley

Image
In this seventh book of the series, Clive and Henrietta return to England to find Castle Linley in financial ruin. When Clive’s cousin, Wallace, invites an estate agent in to assess the home’s value, the agent is later found poisoned, throwing all of the Castle’s guests into suspicion. Clive and Henrietta are soon drawn into an investigation, which is slowed by an incompetent local inspector and several unexplained phenomena—the cause of which many, especially the frail Lady Linley, believe to be the workings of the ghost of a hanged maid. Meanwhile, Gunther and Elsie have begun  life on a farm in Omaha. Circumstances are difficult, but they are content—until Oldrich Exely appears, proposing an option Elsie finds difficult to ignore. Melody Merriweather, still masquerading as a nun to aid Elsie’s escape, likewise finds it difficult to ignore a letter with tragic news from home, while Julia, on the other hand, receives a very different sort of letter from Glenn Forbes. Book Review: Don't Be Scared

Image
Every town has a history. Ours is just a little darker than most. For years I’ve celebrated Halloween and Hollow Bridge’s history with everyone else who lives here. Parades, festivals, and insane Halloween parties have always been a staple for us. Some bad behavior is expected, given what we’re celebrating. But murder has never been on the table before. Someone in Hollow Bridge wants to bring the stories to life, and they’re not firing any warning shots. When rumors of someone wearing a Halloween mask surface, it isn’t long before the first person is killed. No one is safe, but when I end up with a serial killer kneeling over me and a knife at my throat, I expect to be the next victim of the Hollow Bridge killer. I don’t expect for him to speak to me, from behind the garish mask he wears. “Who should be the next to die, Bailey?” Inexplicably, he lets me go. But I’m never going to be safe from him. Because he wants more from me than just a name. Don’t Be Scared is a full-length, MMF s

Book Review: A New Reign

Five thousand years ago The Fallen divided Heaven. Twenty-one years ago my mother, an angel who discarded her place in Heaven to save my father when he fell, vanquished Luke, mastermind of The Fall, then gave birth to me. The spirit of Heaven, fires of Hell, and blood of mankind runs through my veins, along with a destiny to rule or destroy them. But that fate has never felt a burden thanks to Declan, Kai, and Luca. Each owns a piece of my heart, and with it, connection to a power in each bloodline: Declan that of my mortal blood, Luca my Fallen, and Kai, Hellfire, through his dark side, Hyde. Together, we have battled and beaten The Augury, an ancient order that has been after me since I was a child. But one final war looms. Luke has returned, and he wants control of Heaven. Only, it’s not a battle I am expected to fight alone. Turns out, Declan, Luca, Kai and I are fated—our connection woven among the stars—and in addition to my own power, each has their own, with kingdoms and armi
