I want to thank you for allowing me this interview.

I read your bio and I see that you were into reading and romances at a very young age. What type of romances did you like to read…romantic suspense, romantic comedy, historical romance, etc?

LOUISA: The first romance I got my hands on were Harlequin category romances stolen out of my grandmother’s suitcase! But the first romance I was obsessed with was The Shadow and the Star by Laura Kinsale, and it sparked a lifelong passion for historical romance. But I’m a pretty inclusive romance reader—as long as it has a happy ending, I’m all for it!

QUESTION: Do you have any hobbies?

LOUISA: When I’m not writing, I’m probably either reading or cooking. Both are huge stress relievers for me!

QUESTION: What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?

LOUISA: Hmm. People might be surprised to know that I’m a huge fan of the band My Chemical Romance! Unless you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, in which case, you’re already well aware. : ) I love those guys, and alternative/punk rock in general.

QUESTION: Do you like complete silence when writing or do you have to have sound like music?
LOUISA: I need silence when I write. There’s certain music that I can use while I’m plotting or researching, to get me in the right mood for the characters and setting, but during actual writing time, the few distractions the better!

QUESTION: If you could meet any culinary chef in the world, who would it be and why?

LOUISA: This is such a tough one! I want to say Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin, but I’d actually be afraid to meet him. I might swoon! His French accent slays me. Maybe Anthony Bourdain. He’s not really a chef anymore, but I love the way he writes about food and travel.

QUESTION: What is your favorite dish to cook/eat?

LOUISA: There are too many to name! But I get a huge amount of satisfaction out of roasting a chicken. Simple, earthy, homey, and delicious.

QUESTION: Which comes first . . . the storyline or the characters?

LOUISA: It varies from book to book—but I will say that I find the whole process easier when I have clear characters in my head from the start.

QUESTION: Just One Taste is the third Recipe for Love novel. Can you please share a brief description about the book?

LOUISA: How about the blurb from the back of the book:

Bad-boy chef Wes Murphy dreads his final semester cooking class—Food Chemistry 101—until he meets the new substitute teacher. Dr. Rosemary Wilkins is a feast for the eyes, though her approach to food is strictly academic. So Wes decides to rattle her Bunsen burner by asking for her hands-on advice—on aphrodisiacs . . .

QUESTION: Do you have a favorite couple from your Recipe for Love novels?

LOUISA: Wes and Rosemary really captured my heart; they’re definitely one of my favorite couples. But I have to mention my subplot romance here, too! Brit punk sous chef Frankie and waiter Jess have been dancing around each other since Can’t Stand the Heat, and I’m thrilled to be able to give their many fans another chapter of their relationship in Just One Taste! I get more reader mail about Frankie and Jess than any other couple, so I know I’m not alone in loving them.

QUESTION: How much fun have you had writing these books?

LOUISA: I love writing these books more than I love chocolate, champagne, and shoe shopping. All put together!
