Book Review: Stalked on Fright Night
His secret makes me shiver, but his touch makes me crow with ecstasy.
After an unforgettable night at America’s coolest haunted attraction, the Sinful Spookfest, my friends and I sign on to join the Haunt. Times are hard for artists, so I’m willing to look past the terrible working conditions and wild guests to pay the bills. Even though I make enemies with the star performers before I’ve even signed my 1099-NEC.
That’s how I end up working in the stupid corn maze—a fate that gets complicated once I meet the Scarecrow.
This guy never turns it off; he’s always in character. As if I’m not already a sucker for talent and an alluring voice, when he defends my honor against a few drunk patrons, I’m ready for a roll in the hay with this outstanding guy.
I’m just not prepared to find what’s under all that flannel and denim might be something more monstrous than I expected.
A MONSTER LOVERS CARNIVAL ROMANCE
Step right up. The monsters running the show are real, and so is the danger of falling for them. Across haunted houses, midways, and monster-run attractions, humans keep wandering in expecting cheap thrills, and walking out with their hearts stolen by something that isn't quite human at all. Vampires, demons, and creatures of every kind, all breaking the rules for one taste of forever.
Step inside if you dare. You might fall in love if you're not careful.
My Review
Raven is not afraid. She is every haunted house actor's nightmare. They can try all their tricks but they won't get a jump scare out of her. Raven is desperate for money, so she takes up a job at the Americorn Dream as an actor. She is assigned to the corn maze. It is there that she meets, Jonathan.
This book is a fun, sentient read. All of the "corn" references are hilarious! In the case of Jonathan, there is nothing bad about his "pure high fructose corn syrup". Ooh and I can't forget to mention this nugget..."I can't believe it's not butter". If you want to know how this comes into play within the story, you will have to read it for yourself. Stalked on Fright Night is cornlicious!
