Book Review: Unbalanced

Betrayal doesn’t disappear. It festers and spreads like a disease.

The scales demand consequence and don’t balance themselves. Someone has to tip them back.
That person is me.

By thirty, I have it all. Wealth. Power. Prestige. A face people trust and a name that commands rooms. I know how to win juries, destroy reputations, and bury secrets beneath polished lies. I’m the attorney that most can’t afford.
But then something tragic happens the night of my birthday. A reminder of the night my father died. Something that should’ve stayed buried.

That’s when I know for certain that there is a threat.
Someone is watching. Stalking. I can almost feel the slow breath of someone standing too close and stirring the monster beneath my skin.
They know the truth about me.
And instead of running…they keep testing me.

I should be worried.
Instead, I’m obsessed. No one has ever been so bold.
The game is afoot, and when I finally uncover who’s been lurking in the shadows of my life…it will be the end for one of us.

My Review

When I think of Alden, I instantly think of Daredevil. While this is not a superhero story, in a way Alden is a vigilante. Instantly, I fell in love with him. Besides his good looks and charming personality, it was his loyalty that really won me over. Due to his past and with his father, he believes in respect and cheating is a no for him.

Emily is a strong woman. She runs her own business. I love that she cares for her employees and does not accept handouts. She works really hard for what she earns.

I did figure out early on where this story was going. Yet it did not take away from my excitement. In fact, I was very happy that it went the way I hope it would and there were still a few surprises. A must read. Brooklyn delivers with this book!
