Book Reviews: Liquified, Gossamer, Pyre, Confess

He's crazy. Absolute bat bleep crazy. I hate him, he hates me. I sit in his cage while he creates. I should have stayed home that day. Brad hyped up Delirium like it was heaven. And for a brief few hours it was.

And then HE walked in.
He took me and I stare at Brad's head everyday.

My Review

Charron was giving me Hannibal Lector vibes. All I can picture when I think of Charron is the candles he makes. Let's just say you won't find these candles in any Bath and Works store!

I have encountered a lot of favorites in this series, but I honestly do have to say that this book is in my top 5 favorites in this series. It is gruesome in the best way.

He came to remind her she was human. The carnival brought him to make sure she stopped wanting to be.

The spiders have always listened to her.

Inside Colony Carnivale, she is known only as the Arachnist. A woman wrapped in silk, surrounded by venom, and more comfortable among eight-legged predators than the humans who pay to enter her tent.

She remembers no other name. No other life. And she has learned not to question what the carnival chooses to keep.

Then a stranger walks through her exhibit. He doesn’t fear the spiders. Worse, the spiders fear him.

He asks questions no one else has ever bothered to ask. He touches her only when she allows it. He makes her remember that beneath the silk, the venom, and the rituals, there might once have been a woman.

The carnival notices. And Colony Carnivale does not tolerate divided loyalties.

My Review

Beware The Arachist! She has an army. An army of spiders that is. They are at her command. Yet, when the "quiet one" comes, the atmosphere shifts. There is something about the "quiet one".

If you have a fear of spiders or any creepy, crawly creature, then, you will want to avoid this book. It is the stuff of nightmares! I was so enthralled by this story. It is amazing. I am definitely checking out more books by this author.

I was on the run so to speak, leaving a horrible marriage and something drew me to The Carnivale. It's dark, sensual and a place I felt safe. Three men claimed me. I thought I knew where I came from, what I ran from, and who I was in bed with. I was wrong. The one thing I knew is my guys would let me set fire to the world if I wanted and dance with me in the ashes.
All I have to say is "step right up" if you dare.

My Review
Dove finds not only a home but also three men that want her...Burke, Saxon, and Riven. I love why choose stories.

This book felt like a mini reunion of sorts with familiar faces. This book really felt like it was an larger part of this series and not just a stand alone story set in a shared world. The two that really were the surprise hitters for me is Jasper and Vlad. I liked Jasper's story but he kind of became unrememberable after I was finished. Yet, with this book, I absolutely loved his grumpy face and Vlad is so freaking adorable. His enthusiasm for Skittles is infectious.

Amelia is an ordinary girl until she comes face-to-face with The Colony Carnivale. She has a hidden talent that becomes unveiled when the Showmaster singles her out.

Fast forward six months, and the fun for her really begins. Her booth is sought out by patrons because it provides entertainment, but in reality darkness lurks within.

She has one rule for every visitor who comes into her booth: confess or die.

Will patrons let their guilt get the best of them and tell the truth, or will they never find their way out of the Carnivale?

Confess takes place in The Colony Carnivale shared world.

My Review

Confess your sins and maybe you will be spared. Although, most that enter Amelia's tent don't leave. Yet don't feel sorry for those who never leave as they are horrible people. They lie, cheat, and steal. Not even saying three Hail Marys will save you.

This story is dark and gruesome. Just how I like my stories. Amelia had an interesting back story of who she was prior to coming to carnivale.
