Book Review: Assassin
They call me the Chameleon. No one will see me coming when I destroy them for daring to go after the man I’ve claimed.
As a Russian Bratva Pakhan, Ilya Romanov rules his empire with an iron fist and takes out anyone who gets in his way.
One bad encounter and I’m on his radar. He vows he’s going to keep me for himself. I should end him and be done with it.
So why am I allowing this obsession between us to grow?
Until the danger of wanting him forces me to choose: Him or the revenge I crave.
But I’ve made my decision. Why can’t I have my cake and eat it too?
Ilya Romanov is mine. And nothing is going to get in my way of claiming what I deserve. Not even the Bratva Butcher, the man who made me into the weapon I am.
Well, the weapon he created will be his own destruction.
And I never miss.
But when the war is over, and the dust settles, will Ilya be willing to accept a woman like me? Broken, stubborn, and deadly?
Or will the life I’ve wanted--finally in reach--crumble before it begins?
My Review
Lane is the GOAT!! I love her snarky attitude. Her tongue is as sharp as her knife. You could tell that IIya was not prepared for Lane. She kept him on his toes. The chase is the best. Try as IIya might, he will always be 4 steps behind Lane. Her calling IIya "pet" is the cherry on top. I howled with laughter when she pet him on the head.
"Putting his hand at the back of my neck, he crashes into me, his mouth slamming into mine."
I gobbled this book up. I could not get enough of it. Love this book so much. Emily is just getting better and better. This is a book that I will definitely be doing a re-read of. Easily one of my top favorites of this year! I need book two now. The heat between Lane and IIya is muy caliente!! Run now and read this five star, not to be missed book!
**This book is the first part of a duet in the Veil Syndicate Series. It does end on a cliffhanger. The book is a dark Bratva Romance with the beginnings of a secret society, a dangerous razor-tongued assassin, and an obsessed MMC who will stop at nothing to find her. Due to the nature of this book, please check the trigger warnings.
