A Life by Design + Giveaway
Book Description:
When 20-year-old Elena Allegro leaves the Italian village of Laurino to study Fashion Design in Milan, she’s certain her dreams are about to come true. Despite her father’s warnings that risk comes with her newfound freedom, she loves her studies and develops a love interest with Francesco, the handsome young entrepreneur who offers her a part-time job in a Milan clothing store.
It seems like an idyllic situation—until a stalker targets Elena, tormenting her with mind games and threatening her safety. In the face of escalating danger to herself and to Francesco, Elena must fight for her freedom, her love, and her survival.
My Review
This is my first introduction to author Lucy Appadoo. I really liked the location. Although, I have never been to Italy, I felt like I had been transported to Milan. Ms. Appadoo really did a wonderful job of the descriptions of the location and the characters. Speaking of the characters; they were good. I did connect with them but I didn't experience that strong, strong emotional connection. Well except for Elena and Francesco's relationship. Francesco did not pressure Elena. He let her move at her own pace. Elena's friend, Isabella was kind. They were like kindred souls navigating a new place together.
Instantly, I got the stalker vibes from Angelo. However, he may have been too aggressive but he was not the stalker. When it came to the stalker, there was a bit of a mystery. One that I did not figure out sooner than the story allowed. On a scale of 1-10 for intensity I would rate this book a 6. Overall, I enjoyed this book enough that I would read more books from this author.
