Book Review: Faking It... At First

A fake dating, steamy baseball romance

Some things—
like O’s—are easy to fake, but love isn’t one of them.

DELILAH
Getting involved with the wrong label while rising to the top has threatened my career in ways I never saw coming. With the fear of being canceled and my debut album releasing soon, my new PR rep has just the solution: A
perfectly staged, totally fake relationship, complete with public dates, hand-holding for the cameras, and a no-falling-in-love clause.

One season. No strings. No risk.

DAMIEN
I’m one of baseball’s top players, on the field and off. But now, my sponsors are breathing down my neck. Either I clean up my playboy image, or I may lose sponsors and millions of dollars. My agent suggests a fake relationship with country music’s newest sweetheart. Sounds good to me.

Faking it is easy … at first.

Between late-night songwriting sessions, fiery arguments that turn into something else, and a kiss that wasn’t meant for the cameras, the line between
pretend and real starts to blur. And when the stakes get higher, Delilah and Damien have to ask themselves:
Are they still faking it … or has it been real all along?

My Review
Ahh, this is a charming book. I enjoy a good fake dating story. I will admit that in the beginning I did feel like the story moved a bit slower for my liking. Yet, the pacing did change as the story progressed.  The spice is there, and I like it, but it was the emotional journey that Delilah and Damien took that I really enjoyed.

Damien and Delilah make a cute couple. Damien definitely fell first. Damien may have a reputation as a "bad boy", but he is anything but one. He is a sweetheart. The way that he cares for and supports Delilah is endearing. Delilah poured her soul out with her music. I liked it as it allowed me to get to know her better.

IF you like engaging characters, charming storyline, and steamy romance, you will want to read this book.
