Book Review: Deliverance
Being a member born into a secret society is nothing like what you would expect. Our world is dripping in diamonds and gilded in gold, but it’s also built atop the blood and bones of innocents. The wronged and the shamed haunting this town, this world, this society.
Maggie Bartlett had accepted the fact that she would never have control over her destiny. That she would always be a puppet in their play. A queer woman in a Puritan man’s world is one of the most dangerous things to be. But what good is life without a little danger?
In a society where everything comes at a price, the real question is...what are you willing to lose in the pursuit of your Deliverance?
My Review
I actually had not read the Gallows Hill trilogy. So, I did not have an established relationship already or at least a partial familiarity with Maggie and Bridgette.
In the beginning I did not like Bridgette. She was a mean girl for sure. Yet, as the layers slowly got peeled back and I got to see the "real" Bridgette, I liked her a lot. Maggie, I thought at first was too soft for this world as everyone else was mean. However, she surprised me but just how tough she is.
When she wrote that letter to Maggie about her feelings towards her, that got my heart.
"Finally
Peacefully
I'm free"
This broke me and hurt my heart when Bridgette said this. I did enjoy this book. It does have some dark themes to it so be careful of your mental health. Katelyn pens a really good story. The spice is just right.
"We're finally together, she is mine and I'm hers."
