Book Review: Drop His Mask
Betrayal has a bitter taste. It needs to be sweetened with a heavy dose of revenge.
Before he was the Host, he was just a man in unrequited love, trying to keep his promises.
Raven isn't done escaping death. She isn't done with this country. She isn't done with this game. And she isn't done with doing what she does best.
Being underestimated.
The game isn't over, but as it nears the end she starts to fully question.
Why are the winners never seen again?
Why is the Host so familiar?
And what exactly does 197 want from her?
The Hunger Games meets Squid Games in this dark why choose dystopian romance. There are a heavy dose of TWs that will be listed on the first page. Every character is flawed and morally grey. Do not expect any heroes. This FMC can save herself.
My Review
After the cliffhanger ending of book one, I was really looking forward to this book as I needed to know what happens.
In this book, the games are more personal. The group, Raven, Levi, Maverick, Enzo, and Jayce are still fighting for their lives. There is not a lot of shared romantic moments. Which I am fine with as this book featured more of the origin story of how the games came to be and more about Raven and Jayce's past story.
I felt more of the Hunger Games influence this time around. Probably because of how the past played out and affected the present day. I got some answers but was still left with some more questions. Are they answered. Nope. Sage says hang with her as she leaves us with another cliffhanger ending. I can't wait to read book three.
Beware The Game Warden and The Host.
