Lachlan Walsh is too nice for his own good. It's how he ends up accepting his dad's job offer to be a glorified babysitter for the last person who wants it: Jesse Denver, a professional lacrosse player who plays as recklessly on the field as he parties off of it.
Who also happens to be his brother's best friend.
And his ex-girlfriend's older brother.
Neither man wants to be there, so it should be easy enough to keep things professional. But between brand deals for the world's worst sports drink, an unexpectedly viral incident involving a woman's lacrosse uniform, and trying very hard not to think about the thing he found in Jesse's bedroom closet, Lachlan realizes Jesse has a surprisingly soft heart for someone constantly chirping at the biggest enforcer in the league.
Worse, he starts to discover that the line between aggravation and attraction is far, far thinner than he expected.
But in a game where friendship ends at the gate, crossing that line with someone whose life is as messily knotted to his as Jesse's is could spell disaster. Especially if Lachlan does the one thing he's never been good at: putting himself first.
Unnecessary Roughness is a MM sports romcom with forced proximity that gets realistically cringey and unexpectedly spicy, a thigh-induced queer awakening, and the discovery that sometimes a little roughness is exactly what's necessary.
My Review
What a way to start this book off. The things people keep in their closet, and I am not talking about a dead body. Although, if you ask Lachlan, that is exactly what he thought Jesse was hiding in his closet. Nope, it is NFW rated.
Where Lachlan and Jesse are concerned, as the saying goes "opposites attract". This statement is so true as these two are different. Thus, the reason they have a rocky start. Yet, the more time that they spend together, the heat level rises.
If you have read a Cheryl Terra book, then, you can expect the banter. I did laugh. Lachlan and Jesse do make a winning pair. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
