Tina packs her bags and heads to South India. She is going there to finish her thesis. She gets more than she bargains for when her first night in India is at a hostel. Tina is awaken to a girl pleading. Before Tina can make sense of the scene, some men come marching in and take the girl away. However not before the girl can pass a note to Tina. This one in encounter has now put a target on Tina's back.

Ok, this is one of the best books that I have read about the topic human trafficking. A very serious problem that needs to have more awareness and needs to stop. Instantly I was transported to South India. It was like I was stepping into Tina's shoes as if I was her. Being as smart as Tina was, she could have come off as standoffish but the author did it right and made Tina smart but with compassion. Usman is truly evil. It is people like Usman that we need to stop. Check out this book as it is worth your time.

Annu

Subramanian is the director of the Writing Center at Brown School,

Schenectady, New York. She co-founded Albany Women Connection, a support

group in Albany, New York. She was chosen as one of four national

finalists by the Norman Mailer Center and National Council of Teachers

of English (NCTE) in 2011 for her short story, SO FAIR AND VERY LOVELY. She was chosen as Educator of Excellence in 2011 by the New York State English Council.



Her latest book is the factu-fiction, Another Heaven.
