Book Review: Slay
SLAY is a dark romance novella. It follows a meticulous serial killer who never makes mistakes...until one night, when a woman derails a kill he had been planning for months. Suddenly, his careful world shifts, and obsession takes root. He doesn't think that she could want him, yet he finds himself compelled to care for her in ways no one else ever has—all while inching closer to a dangerous intimacy neither can fully control.

Hamlet:
For years, my work has been flawless. As the nation’s most notorious killer, I don’t make mistakes. Until the night I met her. The moment she stumbled into my world, everything changed.
She is guarded and full of secrets, and she is dangerous for me. She makes me do dangerous things. Things that could get me caught. Yet I am drawn to her in a way I cannot ignore, compelled to protect her—from the world… and from myself.
As boundaries blur and my obsession deepens, I find myself confronting desires I never wanted.
Can I, a killer who never errs, risk losing myself to the one woman I cannot have?
Basil:
I thought I was going to die the first night I met Hamlet. Instead, the killer in the skull mask put the kettle on and asked if I wanted sugar in my tea.
Then he started coming every month to take care of me during my period.
He should terrify me. In many ways, he does. I’ve never seen his face. I don’t know what he looks like without the mask, and I don’t ask. He knows me in ways I don’t let anyone else see.
What am I doing? Is this going to end with my name in the papers as his next victim?
Why can’t I resist him?
My Review
Um, yes. I loved this steamy, dark novella. Basil finds herself in a wrong place situation. She is lucky that Hamlet finds her very intriguing and therefore decides to not unalive her. Hamlet has never found himself in this type of situation.
Hamlet is morally black, but where Basil is concerned; Hamlet turns morally gray. The way that Hamlet made sure that Basil had food and when she refused the door dash orders, he came into the home and cooked for her had me heart fluttering with joy.
Emily SLAYED with this novella! It is so dark and spicy. I loved every moment and look forward to what the authors comes out with next.
