Book Review: Redemption at Christmas

When Trevor flees the big city for the small town of Piper Falls, the last thing he’s looking for is trouble. He left enough of that behind when he exited his company—and his life—ahead of being fired. The events that led to that left him wary of strangers, and eager for peace.

The dog that turns up at his house has other plans. Trevor discovers that he bought the house of its former owner when Isabell, the far-too-attractive granddaughter of the former owner arrives to collect him. Trevor is charmed by her open smile and delectable body, but knows all too well that people can’t be trusted.
Isabell accepted that her cousin Spencer got inherited everything from her grandfather, though it stings that he didn’t give her anything but the dog. To make matters worse, Cody keeps showing up at the old house, where a handsome stranger has purchased what used to be the family home. All too quickly she is offering to show Trevor around town, and introduce him to the pleasure of Piper Falls at Christmas.

Then they discover that her grandfather had a new will, one that leaves Isabell half of the property. The problem is that Spencer has already spent the money and has no way to give Isabell what she is owed. Forced to choose between her rightful inheritance and the methods she will have to do to get it, Isabell is caught. Trevor is the most interesting man she’s met in, well, forever, and to gain her share means hurting him.

Little does she know that Trevor’s secrets are putting them on a collision course. Can they reconcile the past with the future? Or will the choices before them destroy them forever?

My Review

Trevor and Isabell had to navigate a complex relationship with family and doing the right thing. I liked them both. I did feel for Isabell and the situation that she found herself in. It could not have been easy. Yet, I found that Trevor was understanding and had a good heart.

The romance is on a low side, but it is sweet. The bits of affection sprinkled throughout the story was nice. I did find this to be a fast read. I was invested in Isabell and Trevor's story, which helped to make the story speed along quickly. Glad to see Trevor and Isabell get a HEA.
