Book Review: House of Wolves

Where pigs play pretend, and wolves hunt, a dark secret is about to be exposed.

Carmen, a determined werewolf journalist at the Dayton Daily, is on a mission to expose the Hunters' sinister activities without compromising her kind's secrecy. When young female werewolves begin to vanish under mysterious circumstances, the werewolf council senses a deeper conspiracy and suspects a police cover-up.

Past relationships with Officer Straw and Wood make Carmen the best candidate to go undercover and infiltrate the police force. The piggish men prove ineffectual, leaving her with no choice but to turn to Sergeant Brick—a man she loathes.

Forced to seduce him to uncover the truth, Carmen is shocked to find a strange connection between her and Brick. As the danger intensifies, Carmen discovers that Brick is hiding beastly secrets of his own.

With higher stakes than ever, Carmen must navigate her growing feelings and the perilous world of werewolves and Hunters to uncover the truth. Can she trust Sergeant Brick, or will his hidden nature lead to her undoing?

House of Wolves can be enjoyed as a continuation of The Wolfish Love Stories or as a stand-alone

My Review

I was drawn to this book because of the concept of the story. There are lots of fairy tale retellings, but this is my first reading one about the Three Little Pigs. I liked this book a lot. A nice mix of suspense and romance.

Carmen and Brick were for sure giving off enemies to lovers vibes. I get Carmen going undercover to help solve the case by getting with the different guys, but I did not feel any connections with them like I did Brick.

There were many times where I found myself laughing out loud. Even my husband would pay attention and comment. There was a part of the story where it was really serious, and Carmen and Brick had an intimate situation. It was a funny moment to the dark situation. I will be checking out more books from this author.
