Book Review: Descent into Darkness

Osiris: I’ve been a prisoner of evil ever since the man that took me murdered my parents. He spent decades drowning me in manipulation, degradation, and pain. All the while sharpening his precious killing instrument—me. I was complacent and accepted that this was—and forever will be—my existence. Remembering that I’m nothing but a bringer of pain and death—and maybe an orgasm, if they try really hard before I eradicate their lifeforce.

Then, one day it all went too far. I snapped. There are lines that you just don’t cross, and Father crossed it. Making a choice to show Father a taste of what he’s taught me over the years, I set out on a downward spiral. Uncontrolled, unhinged, and unstable. That is, until I met her. The one that changed me forever. The one that showed me emotions I never knew existed in my hollow chest. The one that ended my descent into darkness.

My Review

This is a short and quick read. If you are not only a horror fan but a fan of splatterpunk horror, then you may enjoy this book. The k!lls that Osiris commits are of the gory kind. Which I had no issues with.

What I struggled with is that I had trouble forming a connection with Osiris or Jess. The rest of the characters are not worth caring for anyways as they are not important and are not alive long enough to care about.

Although, I will tell you that the ending had me intrigued enough to read whatever the next book might be that continues Osiris journey. While I might not have enjoyed this book as much as I would have liked, I would try another one from this author as I do think they have a knack for horror writing.
