Book Review: Falling for Red
Romance Tropes: Single Mom, Small Town, Holiday Romance (Fourth of July), He Falls First, Pleasure Dom, Men in Uniform (Firefighters), Slow Burn, Later in Life Romance
“You always this stubborn?”
“You always this annoying?”Thirty-four-year-old Claire Moore feels like her life is going up in flames. A newly single mom, she’s juggling a sick kid and a bartending shift when a fire breaks out at High Five in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Per usual, she has to save the day.
Enter Jake Schmidt: local firefighter, Marine veteran, and all around good guy who’s distracted by the captivating, strong, sassy, red-headed woman who manages to put out the fire moments before he arrives. And despite their tense first impression, he’s determined to win her over.
This blond guy isn’t her usual type, but with the chemistry building by the day, she has to decide if she wants to let him in. Trusting someone new isn’t easy, especially when you’ve been burned before.
This heartfelt Fourth of July romance is perfect for fans of strong heroines, golden retriever heroes, protagonists in their thirties, and steamy small town summer nights.
My Review
Another fun addition to this series. Claire is sassy and Jake is bossy. So, when you mix these two, it makes for some entertaining moments. Yet, both are kindhearted. It is so cute when Claire and her daughter would communicate in Spanish.
Ok, so Jake is a DOM. Who knew. I sure would not have called it for my BINGO card. From someone who struggled on writing what a first date would be like if Claire agreed to go out with him to steamy fun time, things heated up quickly.
Claire is strong and so it was nice that she was able to let Jake take control. I thought these two did make a good couple. Readers of this series is sure to enjoy this newest book. Good thing that Jake is a firefighter as the flames are HOT!
