Book Review: Savage Love

They say I am unruly. Broken.

He says I am different. Resistant.

I was born into subservience, but the savages give me freedom.

Freedom to choose.

Freedom to submit.

Pleasure might be my first lesson, but liberation supersedes.

I am the key to salvation.

I am the future of Ossara.

This is a DARK dystopian romance with heavy triggers. Reader's discretion is highly advised.

My Review
Astra finds herself married to a ruthless man. He is cruel to her. Luckily, for her she has a very caring caretaker named Lyra. Lyra has been around for a long time and so knows a lot. She feels for Astra and is willing to do anything to help her escape.

"Sometimes we are wiser than our surroundings."

This is where Zev and his brother, Ren come in. They are telepathically linked. They help Astra escape. Astra learns what true love and pleasure feels like with Zev. Although, as Astra discovers her own abilities, she can't help but become drawn to Ren as well.

"I'll always choose this savage love."

The ordeal that Astra endures is horrible, but she is a lucky one that she was able to escape. She became a survivor/fighter. I always know what I am getting into with every of Emily's books. I do have to say that it was refreshing that this time the graphic details were very minimal. I was able to connection with the characters better with the lighter storyline. The dystopian storyline was really good.
