Book Review: Cirrus About You
I never thought the word “cumulonimbus” would make me blush until I ended up with my head in the clouds.
Ghostlight Falls is full of strange mysteries and countless oddities. But to everyone who lives here, that’s the norm.
When I started my podcast interviewing the locals, I never expected it to become a niche internet sensation, it was more of a hobby than anything. But now people are posting fan theories trying to figure out where the storyline is going—because the rest of the world doesn’t seem to realize it’s all real.
After interviewing the mysterious rainbow cloud that hangs over my family’s drive-in theatre every night we have a movie playing… the listeners have been sending in fanart of me. And The Cloud.
I’m demisexual! Dating the weather wasn’t even a possibility to me when I interviewed The Cloud—or Cirrus, as I’ve taken to calling it. So what if after years of hovering and long chats about cinema deep into the night make me feel like I’m on Cloud 9? No, our relationship is friendship at most, and I don’t even know how we could be anything more, even without Cirrus’ intangibility clouding the issue!
My Review
Tadpole Ripley is trying to save her family's drive in. She decides to start a podcast. Podcasts are the hottest thing around today. One of Ripley's guests is the cloud that hovers over her family's drive in. She names him Cirrus.
Cirrus never thought about anything other than the weather. Yet being around Ripley, they are starting to feel things.
"I've never fallen on accident. Except for you."
I have read a handful of sentient romances but got to say this is my first featuring a cloud. Although, I like the idea. It is unique. This is a fun read. The fact that Ripley and Cirrus are nonbinary makes it better. OMG, I howled at Ripley's parents having all the other frogs make their new mating pond at the drive in to protect it. It was a "ripping" good time. Also, fanart can be crazy.
