Book Review: Love You, Mean It

From USA Today bestselling author Laura Pavlov comes a story about found family and the power of acceptance, all wrapped up in a sizzling romance set in the frozen north.

My new landlord’s a real hard-ass. And I can’t keep my hands off him.

Charlie Huxley’s the best—and grumpiest—general contractor in Blushing, Alaska. He built the venue for the wedding-planning business my bestie and I share. After I accidentally flood my home, he offers me his guesthouse while he handles the repairs. But when he starts to take charge, I feel myself losing control.

Unable to resist, we casually hook up. We both know once will never be enough.

Between us, we carry plenty of baggage. I’ve got the absent father, drunk mother, and estranged sister. He grew up in foster care and is single-handedly raising a daughter whose mom visits just once a year.

But Charlie makes me feel like I belong. And for the first time ever, I picture myself with a real family.

Before I go all in, I need to learn to set some boundaries. Question Am I strong enough?

My Review

Charlie is the best father to his daughter, Harper. The way that he cares for her and always makes sure to show her just how much he loves her is so endearing. Harper is so lucky to have her father, and she knows it too. Harper through reminds me of my niece. My niece is so sassy and is ten years old going on twenty. That is what Harper is like.

You know who else is sassy...Violet. The way she and Charlie sparred with one another after the smoke alarm went off due to Violet burning pizza rolls was hilarious. There were many more moments like this with these two trading witty barbs. Yet, Violet was amazing with Harper. All the witty banter just leads up to all the steamy scenes involving Charlie and Violet.

It is always a great time when coming back to Blushing. I literally gobbled up this book in one day. It is amazing. Loved every moment of it. This book is a must read. So, clear your schedule as you are going to want to abandon everything else to read this book!
