Book Review: Escaping Rose

I was trained to be sick.

To be silent.

To be invisible.

I could have walked away from the abuse and the neglect, but treating Abby like a product to be sold sets us on a path paved by revenge.

Escaping Rose used to feel impossible, but surviving her sickness will be what truly sets us free.

This book isn’t light or fluffy — expect heavy triggers (trauma, abuse, mental illness, trafficking) mixed with heat and rough edges. Strong FMC, messy healing, found family, and one very “knight in shining armor” await. Mature readers only.

My Review

I felt for sisters, Serenity and Abby and what they had endured over the years since they were little children. A parent is supposed to love and protect their children. Not abuse them. There is something wrong with their mother, Rose.

This book starts out fast right away. There were so many people introduced that I did have some trouble trying to keep straight who they all were. As the story progresses, we learn just all the pain and suffering that Abby and Serenity had to deal with. Serenity would do anything to protect her sister.

This is a quickie read. There is a brief romantic scene between Serenity and Sheriff Ben. The ending does have a cliffhanger. Looking forward to the next book to see how it continues.

Warning: This book does touch on mental health.
