Book Review: Shots Fired

Chiara Bianchi has always known her role in Saint Marin’s violent world would be anything but easy. As the Donna of the Bianchi famiglia, she fights every day to prove her strength in a ruthless, male-dominated underworld. But the greatest battle she faces isn’t waged in blood—it’s in her heart. Torn between her duty and her forbidden love for Emilia Moretti, her childhood best friend now promised to another, Chiara walks a dangerous line where one misstep could mean the end of her family and herself.

As the violence escalates, Chiara faces impossible decisions. To prove her worth as Donna, she must make unimaginable sacrifices—sacrifices that could destroy her, even as they save those she loves. Chiara must decide whether she can still hold onto the pieces of her shattered heart—and the woman who has always owned it.

“Shots Fired” is a sapphic mafia romance and is the first book in the Saint Marin tetralogy which will follow a different couple in each book. There are some dark themes in this book that might be triggering to some. This is a steamy romance that will take you on a fast paced journey through the world of Saint Marin and all of the twisting, complicated relationships that come with it. Expect high stakes, forbidden love, and morally gray characters who will stop at nothing to protect those they care about. Shots Fired explores themes of loyalty, power, sacrifice, and the price of love, all set against the dangerous and alluring backdrop of Saint Marin's mafia world.

My Review

Instantly, I could feel the deep love that Emilia and Chiara shared for one another. Despite the fact that only share one intimate moment and that happens within the last few pages of the book. Emilia is the light to Chiara's dark. Just because Chiara is a woman does not mean she won't shot you between the eyes.

"I did this for you. For all you've worked for. I never wanted to hurt you."

While this story focuses on Chiara and Emilia; I liked Chiara's right hand man and left hand woman, Stefan and Stella. They are two that you want to have your back.

"I love you. I have always loved you. I will love you until the world stops turning."

Excited to read Stefan's story next. Which will be a Romeo and Juliet retelling.
