Book Review: Pride
One man wants her.
The other wants her dead.
When Emma Belmont is invited to attend an exclusive gallery event to represent her newspaper, she sees it as an opportunity to achieve the promotion she's always dreamed of. She doesn't realise that a night bound for success will result in total and utter devastation.
A damning newspaper article.
A tortured artist who hides his identity.
And a British aristocrat who is following her every move.
Her words start a chain of events that she's powerless to stop.
She doesn't know who to trust or where to turn.
But she knows one thing...
The pen is mightier than the sword.
Because after reading her article, he wants her dead.
And he'll stop at nothing to make her the next victim on his extensive kill list.
A stalker
And a saviour.
A beast
And a billionaire.
But which one is which?
And will Emma survive long enough to find out the truth?
She shattered his pride, now she must face the fallout...
Because the devil is on the prowl.
And he wants his pound of flesh.
My Review
Emma wasn't meant to attend an art exhibit with her horrible boss. Yet, here she is in attendance. It ended up being a good thing otherwise, Emma would never have met the enigmatic Alex. As soon as I met Alex, I felt a strong connection towards him and was drawn in. There was a mysterious aura surrounding him that I was intrigued by.
Although, you know who I was really drawn to is the mysterious artist, S.K.A.M. What S.K.A.M. was creating with his art was more than just an art piece. It was a conversation starter. It was representation of humanity. It was all the gritty feelings that we are afraid to show and talk about.
The bit of cat and mouse that S.K.A.M. was playing with Emma, I liked a lot. I just wished that this played out a bit longer in the story. The spicy scenes between Alex and Emma made up a little but for this. Don't let your pride keep you from missing out on this book!
