My Review
Mae is a complex FMC. I mean this in a good way. She suffered sadly from a form of depression that leads to a sad scene. Luckily, she has her best friend, Cally by her side. She also has a new friend and support in Elle, one of the advisors to High Family.
Regarding the five princes...Prince Asmo, Prince Koa, Prince August, Prince Barrett, and Prince Marik, I thought they were all nice. Despite Asmo being a jerk to Mae in the beginning, he was my favorite and thus I actually was not surprised that Mae felt something for him as well. These two were definitely giving me enemies to lovers vibes.
The spice is on the low level. Up until about the seventh percent, there was nothing really happening between Mae and the guys expect for a shared kiss. Later in the story, there is that one pool scene between Mae and Asmo.
What kept me reading was the world building that the author created. I had a really good visual of the world and who everyone looked like and what it must be like with the various kingdoms. The last thirty percent of this story is the strongest. I look forward to reading the next book as I need to know what happens to everyone.
