Book Review: Manacled Hearts

Image
I found salvation in his underworld. But he looks at me like I’m his damnation. Alone and homeless after my family was torn apart, my only goal was to protect my little sister. I failed. Being kidnapped and trafficked across the country shattered the life I was still piecing back together. The Sanctum saved us. Provided refuge. A temporary haven within their criminal empire. While our enemies still lurk, plotting and hunting, the jagged scars I gained to protect Maya cannot heal. Still, The Sanctum’s resident playboy treats me with dismay. Finnigan Hennessey hides behind possessive, infuriating arrogance, yet his broken soul calls out to mine. He’s determined to deny the tempting, forbidden heat between us, but I don’t care about the eleven years separating us. Finn is everything I should hate. After all, his world destroyed mine. But not all villains are the same shade, and in my quest for revenge, my hidden colors are surfacing. My Review Lilith did warn that I would be frustra...

Book Review: How to Make a Horror Movie and Survive

Image
From Bram Stoker Award‑nominated author Craig DiLouie comes a darkly humorous horror novel that sees a famous 80s slasher director set out to shoot the most terrifying horror movie ever made using an occult camera that might be (and probably is) demonic. Horror isn’t horror unless it’s real. Max Maury should be on top of the world. He’s a famous horror director. Actors love him. Hollywood needs him. He’s making money hand over fist. But it’s the 80s, and he’s directing cheap slashers for audiences who only crave more blood, not real art. Not real horror. And Max’s slimy producer refuses to fund any of his new ideas. Sally Priest dreams of being the Final Girl. She knows she’s got what it takes to score the lead role, even if she’s only been cast in small parts so far. When Sally meets Max at his latest wrap party, she sets out to impress him and prove her scream queen prowess. But when Max discovers an old camera that filmed a very real Hollywood horror, he knows that he has to u...

Behind Every Good Man

Image
A wronged wife goes toe to toe with her cheating husband at the polls in this hilarious and heart-lifting novel by the bestselling author of Don’t Forget to Write. It’s a doozy of a bad day for Beverly Diamond when she catches her husband, Larry, in a compromising position with his secretary. What’s a DC suburban wife to do with a soon-to-be ex, two young kids, and no degree or financial support in 1962? Beat the louse at his own game, that’s what. Larry runs the Maryland senatorial campaign for the incumbent candidate projected to win against his younger underdog opponent, Michael Landau. But Beverly has the pluck, political savvy, and sheer drive to push Landau’s campaign in a successful new direction, even if he already has a campaign manager who is less than pleased she has inserted herself into the race. Now it’s rival against rival. She and Michael do make a great team…maybe in more ways than one. But with the election heating up, she needs to focus on one thing at a time. ...

Book Review: My Brother's Teammates

Image
What do you get when you cross a curvy seamstress with three hot hockey players? A pucking disaster. My escape plan seemed foolproof - retreat to my brother's empty apartment after catching my ex with another man. But I stumble into an unexpected complication: his hockey player roommates...and I'm stark naked. Despite my mortifying entrance, and against my better judgment, they’re willing to let me stay but with a few rules: 1. No funny business. 2. No telling the team captain - aka my brother - Harrison. 3. It's temporary until I can find somewhere else to live. At first, the boundaries hold. But simmering tension and close quarters makes resisting temptation harder with each passing day. The simmering tension threatens to combust, blurring the lines we swore not to cross. But how can we go back after crossing that line? And what happens when my brother inevitably finds out? My Review Charlotte sure made a lasting first impression on her new housemates. The angsty build ...

Book Review: Never Yours

Image
“You were always mine, but I was never yours.” After leaving her job as a television writer in New York, Ingrid Lawrence returns to Sapphire Lake and finds herself in the arms of her first love, Caleb Rogers. Despite herself, Ingrid tries her hardest to keep her heart guarded, while Caleb is ready to spend forever with the girl who got away. All of their plans to take things slow are tossed overboard when what can go wrong, does. With Ingrid starting a new writing position, and Caleb’s slated for another deployment to sea, will Caleb lose Ingrid a second time, or will she finally be his? Never Yours is a sort-of spicy, romantic comedy-ish love story, intended for mature audiences. Just because it has funny moments, doesn't mean you should forget to check your content warnings… There are a LOT with this one. My Review Another quick read from Irene. She connects the readers so well to her characters that you become very invested in them and their story. It is safe to say that Caleb...

Book Review: Arcranium™

Image
Description Four horror authors with four vulnerable egos, square off against one another in the virtual world to find out who is the scariest. Welcome to Arcranium™, a powerful technology that fuses with the author's mind to stimulate their best possible creation, immersing other participants in the narrative. It's all in good fun, but with so much pride at stake, things are bound to get a little bumpy once the gloves come off. So, strap your headset on, and don't forget the safe word. The future of literature is about to get an upgrade. The future is … Arcranium™ A Note From the Publisher Arcranium contains scenes of excessive violence and gore, as well as strong sexual content. Book Review: Insidious Obsession

Image
Ara Revenge was meant to be sweet. Instead, I’ve drawn the attention of a monster. I’m at his mercy. He knows my secret. But only part of it. Time is ticking, and only one of us is going to walk out of this alive. Luca Ara is my stalker, but I’ve become obsessed. She has more curves and beauty than she has a right to. I’m going to break her. I want to cut open and figure out that brilliant mind of hers. Especially when I suspect she’s trying to underhand everything I’ve built. *This is an enemies to lovers, mafia dark romance stand alone.* My Review Insidious Obsession by Kia Carrington-Russell is my newest addiction! I read this book so fast. Absolutely hooked from beginning to end. Luca can claim me anytime. You are not going to want to miss this book. Instant five star, recommended read.  Every time that Luca would touch Ara, I would be holding my breath in anticipation of what he would do next. I was definitely under his spell. Ara can tell herself as much as she wants t...

Book Review: Rookie Recovery

Image
Jamie Sullivan does not date hockey players. As the PT for the Bringham Bobcats, he knows they're loud, cocky, and more trouble than they’re worth. Not to mention painful reminders of the career ripped from his grasp a decade ago—a past he’s desperate to leave behind. All he needs to do is finish his business course and open his own practice to be free of hockey forever. It’s all going according to plan, until a dirty-mouthed young hotshot who won't take no for an answer waltzes into his office, and Jamie’s forced to reconsider whether he’s ready to give up on the game. They call him a rising star, so why does Archie Bowman still feel like a rookie? Maybe it’s the number of times he’s been traded in his short career. Maybe it’s the homesickness for the family, biscuits, and rugby he left behind in Britain. Or maybe it’s how, despite everyone else buying his cocky act, he still isn’t sure he belongs in the big leagues. When an old shoulder injury resurfaces a few weeks before ...

Book Review: Beautifully Fractured

Image
Ever have someone get you so well it’s like looking in a mirror? Cruz Starting over is not what I had planned. Those stories about magically becoming best friends with the person assigned to live with you… Yeah, that won’t be me. I already have a best friend. Even if I wanted a new one, Liam wouldn’t be it. He’s permanently grouchy, carrying a negative energy I don’t need since I’m finally in a good place. But I’ve never been good at ignoring when people need help, so I paste on a smile and play nice. Predictably, Liam isn’t much of a talker, but after an unexpected accident he needs my help in other ways. Ways that offer me answers about myself. Ways that raise new questions about the football dreams I’ve been chasing since I was a kid. Ways that make me relive the past I want to ignore. To say I’m confused is an understatement, but there’s one thing I know for certain…Liam is either the key to one door or the bolt that could prevent another from ever opening. And I have to choo...
