Book Review: Coronation

Detective Kaitlin Pierce

It’s always difficult riding up to the scene of a body dump. What type of person would dump another human on the side of the road as if they’re a piece of trash? A monster, a villain, a devil—that’s who. But this one is particularly gruesome.

Allison Clarke appeared to have it all—stable career, nice house, loving husband. So, how did she end up murdered and dumped on a desolate stretch of highway? What kind of demons was Allison running from?

The Devil

Some might call me unhinged, obsessive, a stalker.

And they’d be right.

I’m a man consumed by need—need for vengeance, for pain, for suffering. But most importantly, I’m consumed by my need for her. Allison Clarke is my soulmate. Even death will not keep her from me. I will have her in this lifetime and all the lifetimes after. She is mine now and forever.

Even if she doesn’t know it quite yet

My Review

This is a cute and charming reading. It felt modern.

There are some short sections that feature "articles". They are write up article pieces, like gossip columns. These were a favorite of mine. Having been a fan of the Bridgerton tv series, they reminded me of Lady Whistledown's gossip columns.

Benedict and Zelda are adorable together. Benedict was giving me grumpy vibes. However, I can't fault him. He found himself in a situation that he was not expecting. Zelda is a bit reserved herself. Yet, when these two meet each other, they both slowly break down their barriers.

I will admit that while I did like this book, it took me far longer than I expected to really warm up and engage fully in the story. By the end through I was engaged.
