Book Review: Shadows and Secrets

Jade

This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Jade was supposed to return home, reschedule that interview, go back to classes, and continue her life as if nothing had happened. Soran ruined everything. Layol felt more like her home now and she owed it all to him. She finally feels like she's whom she's meant to be.

The closer they reach the council to end the war, the more she realizes Soran isn't who she thought he was. Soran's secrets he's been hiding can do more than just break her heart.

She'll be forced to choose between the one man she's trusted absolutely or finally come to terms with the truth that's keeping the world she's come to call home in darkness.

 Soran

He wanted to believe it wasn't true. That Jade could live a happy life. That if he helped her, she would be all right. Now the prophecy is looming and the closer they get to the council, the more he sees darkness hides in the shadows and there's nothing he can do as it creeps closer to Jade.

My Review

You do need to read the first book to truly enjoy this one. As it pretty much picks up fairly after the first. Soran and Jade are still trying to maneuver around each other. While Soran may think he is a "villain", I think he is a good guy in disguise.

Love Owen and Alice rounding out this group. They help to keep things entertaining. Jade is growing stronger with each passing day. It is great to see this. So many creatures that the group encounters on their trek.

While, this is a fast book, it is the last third that really help my attention. A fantastic world that the author has created.
