The Peculiar Possum

In The Peculiar Possum, Tobin, a sweet pangolin, Bismark, a loud-mouthed sugar glider, and Dawn, a serious fox, encounter strange sounds and smells in the valley. When an unfamiliar animal appears, Bismark is not pleased! But soon Bismark and the Brigade learn that being peculiar is also reason to be proud.

Bonus Content includes Fun Facts about The Nocturnals and a glossary of Peculiar Words from different languages.

My Review

Tobin, a sweet pangolin, Bismark, a loud-mouthed sugar glider, and Dawn, a serious fox are good friends. Additionally, they are all nocturnal animals. Which means that when the rest of the animals are sleeping at night; these three are just starting their day.

Bismark goes to pick some pomelos, which are like grapefruit. The fruit is the biggest citrus fruit in the world. Yet, he finds that most are missing. The three friends go to investigate and find a peculiar animal...Penny, the possum.

I thought this book was rated correctly for the age group of 5-7. Most of the words were not too large, except for a few. I really liked the fact that the story was simple. Not a lot of words on each page to clutter the pages. Nice illustrations. Plus, the fun facts at the back of the book were great. They taught young readers about nocturnal animals and that being unique is a good thing.
