Book Review: Mine to Love

"You were his prisoner. You're my princess."

Gio Moretti is the glue that holds the Amato crime family together—the boss when the boss is away, an expert in tactical warfare, a trusted enforcer, the liaison, the negotiator, the mastermind, the chess master. But a life of always putting everyone else first has left him trapped in an inescapable darkness. That is, until Darcy Cunningham and her daughter, Delilah, walk into his life and make him feel alive in a way he never has before.

Gio sees Darcy as an angel, the ray of sunlight needed to chase away his darkness. But Darcy is haunted by a darkness of her own. A single mom on the run from her abusive husband, Darcy finds herself in New Orleans, out of money and with nowhere to stay. She meets Gio at a perfectly imperfect time and takes a job as his live-in maid. Darcy is scared she can’t trust Gio, scared he’ll hurt her. But, while Darcy was her ex-husband’s prisoner, she’ll be Gio’s princess.

Gio and Darcy’s love story is an emotional, romantic slow burn full of tender, heartwarming moments, thigh-shaking spice, and the perfect sprinkle of suspense. Mine to Love is a complete standalone with a happily-ever-after.

My Review

The way that Darcy finally found the strength to get her and Deliah out of a really bad situation really took courage. You could tell that it took a real toll on her not just physically but mentally as well. Yet with the support of Gio, Darcy was slowly able to "shine".

"As my lips crash into his and I allow my hands to explore him, it's as if my lips, his body, are my anchor to the present."

The way that Gio respects Darcy's personal space and allows her to move at her own speed is very endearing and respectful. It showed strength but also that Gio loved Darcy enough to wait for her.

"Perhaps he tames my darkness so easily because he is familiar with it."

Once Gio and Darcy did cross the line. Um, hello! While all their intimate moments were SPICY, there was real passion and emotion behind the scenes that made them that more special.

"You make my arms heavy with the need to hold you."

Every time that Deliah and Ru appeared, they stole that scene. My heart went on a roller coaster journey with Gio and Darcy. Yet when I finished this book, all I could hear was my heart singing as I absolutely LOVED this book! Emily, you SLAYED it! A must read.

"Our chapter...Deliah's, mine, and Gio's."
