Book Review: House of Shadows

Release Date: October 19

USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde returns to the Royal Houses series with House of Shadows: the story of Kerrigan Argon, a half-Fae, half-human as she seeks her place in an unforgiving world filled with magic, mayhem, and romance. Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Holly Black, and V.E. Schwab.

Kerrigan Argon, a half-human, half-Fae, has joined the Dragon Society against almost everyone’s wishes.

A year of training is required with her dragon.

First she must travel with the dark Fae prince, Fordham Ollivier, back to his home in the House of Shadows. Nothing but slavery and death has ever awaited a half-Fae in their halls.

But something is wrong within their wicked world. A thousand year old spell is weakening. Cracks forming in the foundation. And Kerrigan may just be their ruin or their salvation.

My Review
I did not realize at first that this book was book two in this series. Yet, having not read the first book I did not have any issues jumping right into this book. I was able to quickly, figure out who was who and had a good idea of what transpired in the first book.

Instantly, I was a fan of Kerrigan. She is a strong female heroine. Just what we all need and are looking for in today's world. The world setting and tone of this book was kind of giving me Eragon, LOTR, and Avatar vibes. Which I am all here for it. It has been a while since I have read a really good fantasy book.

There is romance as well in this story. Yet, I was not mad about it. It was not distracting and worked for the story. Once I started reading, I did find myself reading many chapters at a time. After finishing this book, I plan to go back and pick up book one.
