Book Review: Perfectly Unraveled

I was raised to be composed, controlled, the perfect pawn in a world built on silence and shadows. Every step, every breath, every smile was measured. He was the chaos wrapped in control that my soul begged for. I wasn’t supposed to fall for him because I had a life to build for my baby girl. I wasn’t supposed to break, but piece by piece, Cooper Carrington unspooled the woman I was taught to be… until all that was left was the truth of who I am; Perfectly unraveled.

This is a dark romance with heavier triggers. Reader's description is advised.

My Review

I applaud Casey as it truly takes a lot of courage to escape your abuser. Yet, I like that it did not define Casey. Also, I like that Cooper never pushed her into anything that would make her feel uncomfortable.

I laughed so hard when Casey's daughter, Emma threw up on Cooper. Cooper is a bit of a germaphobe. So, to see how both Casey and Cooper reacted was hilarious. Cooper was actually the calm one and Casey was freaking as she thought Cooper was going to toss Emma across the room. Not that I would blame Cooper if he freaked out as I have had several of my nephews when they were babies puke on me and it is not pleasant and it stinks.

I love Olga. She lives in the same apartment complex as Casey and Emma and watches over them both. She is like a pitbull. When she came barreling into Casey's apartment when Cooper and Jake came over and she was ready to beat them up with her bat!

If you have read any of Emily's books, you know they are not for the faint of heart. They are filled with trauma and usually to the FMC. I really loved that this book while still dealing with trauma was a bit lighthearted. The bits of humor was a nice change. I hope that Emily does write more books like this.
