Book Review: Her Day to Die & Not Her Day to Die
My brother? He’s dead. My first love? Dead.
Accident or murder?
I am alone.
Until I’m not.
My first love left behind three brothers, and for some reason they won’t leave me alone. No matter where I go or what I do, there they are. Always watching in the shadows, waiting for something to happen, but what?
The oldest, Grayson, says he's trying to keep everyone safe. He's overbearing, controlling, demeaning. But even more so, lonely. I see myself in him, maybe we will be each other’s salvation? Or will I be his demise?
The middle, Axel, he got out of prison just in time to hear the news of his twin’s death. He is angry, domineering, and keeps pushing me to my limits and then past them. Especially in the middle of the night when I think I’m alone. To everyone else I’m Sunday, but to him? I am just a little lamb.
The youngest, oh sweet, kind, supportive, Darius. I don’t think I would have made it through my grief without him. But why is he the most dangerous of the three? He is crawling into my skin, worming his way into my heart, stamping himself into my very soul.
I try my best to steer clear of them, but in doing so I stumble across a dangerous trap.
It was laid especially for me, and if I’m not careful?
Well, it might just be my day to die.
Join Sunday as she navigates the waters of grief, the devastation of first love, and the possibility of a truth so painful she might just wish she could forget it all.
This is a why choose romance, Sunday will end up with multiple men. Check the TWs.
This is book 1 of the Star-Crossed duet.
If you want the matching cover, you will find it on my author central.
My Review
As soon as I started reading, I was already feeling empathy towards Sunny. I did not know anything about her brother or her boyfriend. Yet, I felt like I already kind of knew them.
I really like how Sage wrote Sunny to show "real" emotions. Although Sunny was not the only one that was dealing with the deaths. The O'Brien brothers, Axel, Darius, and Grayson also were affected. One maybe a bit more and that is Axel as he was a twin.
Each guy in their own way had their way of loving Sunny. I was close to them all. Yet, the romance is not the only aspect of this book. There is a mystery a foot as well. The letters that Sunny's boyfriend and brother left her I really enjoyed reading. I will be reading the next book as I need to know what happens.
Sunday. Sunday. Sunday.
Why did you have to go and burrow your way into our hearts? Is that why the stars aligned? Is that why we couldn’t live a day without you?
Our Sunday.
Axel’s Little Lamb.
Darius’s Wildflower.
My baby girl.
You may think this is the first time you have fallen into our lives, but for us it’s been years.
Years of pining.
Years of following.
Years of longing.
But now, after all this time, you’re finally safe.
Except…something isn’t right.
Fate is still tugging you towards danger.
Leading you into the underbelly of this corrupt town.
Shoving you towards the last secret we’re keeping from you.
And when you figure it out, when the ugly truth comes to light, please don’t run away again.
Because now that we know we can have a future with you?
We will never let you go.

My Review
Um, ok mind blown. I was not expecting the "big" reveal. Although when I learned about it, it made sense and if anything made me fall for the guys, Axel, Darius, and Grayson even more.
Sunday is not the same girl from the first book. In this book, I really grew closer to everyone. While I liked Axel and Grayson, it was Darius that I felt a bit of a stronger pull. This is because of the storyline and what was happening.
While the romance is still in this story, it goes deeper than just the physical aspect. Which is why I liked this book. I thought this overall duet was concluded very well with this book.
