Book Review: Heartless
Eighteen years ago, Cassian Byers murdered his older sister.
And I witnessed the whole thing.
For nearly two decades, I’ve fought to bury the memories of my troubled childhood, which includes the haunting image of my babysitter’s murder. Life in Hayden Fields has been eerily calm—no big crimes or chaos—until now.
Until the first girl dies.
And I see Cassian outside of my window on the first night of October.
It seems he remembers me just as well as I remember him. And when teenagers start showing up dead, there’s only one likely suspect. Except I’m the only one who seems to think so. To everyone else, he’s quiet and reserved; polite enough to sway public opinion in his favor.
But I know the truth: he’s responsible for these murders, and he’s watching me.
Now, I must find a way to prove it—without becoming his next victim.
*HEARTLESS is a contemporary dark romance standalone set in the Pleasure & Prey universe. This is an MF romance. This book contains scenes of violence and explicit content that may bother some readers.
My Review
Talking about an opening scene. It is one that shocks you and sets up the story to be a wild one. Which the stakes are high, especially when Cass is around. Also not to mention all the bodies left in his wake.
When Cass would call Winnie a "brat", I did not mind it. It just showed the type of relationship they had. A teasing one but that was also full of secrets and spice! These two are like kindred souls. Two flames drawn to each other.
This line cracked me up "Your kind of crazy is way above my pay grade".
A.J. does it again with this book. I really like this series. Readers of this series will enjoy this newest addition.
