Book Review: Finding the Fireworks

After a devastating breakup with his boyfriend of three years, Jonah Tremblay has lost his spark. His ex wasn’t right for him, but he realized it too late. Now, six months later, he’s healing and ready for a fresh start.

Beginning with a change of scenery, Jonah moves into a popular Denver neighborhood. The prospect of meeting his neighbors excites him to no end. New friends are exactly what he needs, and he knows the perfect place to find them―the Fourth of July block party. He’s certain to connect with someone, maybe even romantically.

His hopes are answered when he has a chance encounter with a handsome stranger who turns out to be one of his new neighbors. Gabriel Shwartzman is peppy, confident, and completely comfortable in his own skin. He’s such a positive change from Jonah’s ex that Jonah is immediately smitten.

Even though the idea of a relationship with Gabriel tantalizes Jonah, he’s hesitant. Not only have they just met, but Jonah’s ex sowed so many seeds of doubts into his mind, that he isn’t even sure Gabriel’s interested. He has to figure out how to squash the negative thoughts, otherwise he may never find that spark to light the fireworks inside of him ever again.

My Review

Gabriel has so much energy for both him and Jonah. There is no guessing his intentions. He is straight forward. He will tell it like it is. He already gave Jonah a nickname and they had not shared a kiss yet. The only thing Gabriel does not like is don't call him "Gabe". Gabriel's prima donna ex called him "Gabe" and he detests the nickname.

I liked Jonah. He slowly came out of his shell with Gabriel around. It was refreshing to see him grow and mature. When he stood up to his ex, I was cheering for him. Although, I got to say that Gabriel would be the one that I know I would have fun with on a night out on the town.

Finding the Fireworks is a charming, fun, steamy, MM novella.
