Book Review: Complicitly
A sapphic romance following Veronica and Luna from the Star-Crossed Duet.
In this small-town, evil is just a curtain away.
And everyone in it is complicit.
Luna
Death is a silent affair. I watch it play out before my eyes. Over and over again an endless loop that never allows me any reprieve. I want to scream to escape this personal torment, but I can’t.
I promised her I wouldn’t.
And in the center of all my pain and suffering there is a single beacon of light.
The one person I should never fall for.
The one person I must save.
The only one I have left.
Veronica
Death is a loud affair. It screeches in my ears as I attempt to sleep. Begging me to stop it, to do anything to change its course. But no matter how hard I try, I can’t see what matters most.
I’m going insane. Thoroughly so.
And with the news of my father’s release from prison? It ramps up two-fold.
It’s nearly too much, but then I find her.
A single quiet soul.
Except her mouth is anything but.
Luna wants nothing to do with me and I don’t blame her.
My family is at the center of her pain.
Except…
She’s not the only one who has suffered at their hands…
This is a dark FF romance, the TWs will be listed in the front matter.
My Review
The author formatted this book in a unique way. Before you even start reading, you have two chooses to make. You have to choose...light or dark. You will read both parts but what choice you do select will affect your reading experience.
I picked dark. It felt kind of like reading the "after", and then when you read the light it was like the "before". It took a little getting used to reading this style but by the end of the story, it all came together. As the final section is appropriately titled "Ying Yang".
You need the dark with the light like Luna needs Veronica and visa versa. I like this FF romance. It had emotions sprinkled with spice.
