Book Review: Sins of Sorrow
From author A.R. Rose comes a modern Romeo & Juliet Reimagining packed with tension, angst, and romance. Sins of Sorrow is Book 1 in the With a Kiss Duet.
Vinnie:
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet ended in tragedy, so I’m not sure why I think our story will be any different.
Every time our paths cross, I find myself inexplicably drawn to him.
The mysterious man who’s part of a rival family. A family I’ve been raised to despise.
Yet, despite our deep rooted hatred for one another, his presence makes me feel safe.
I know I shouldn’t want him.
Falling for him would be the ultimate betrayal to my family.
They’re our enemies.
But I can’t seem to stay away.
Sly:
Her father murdered my uncle in front of me, starting a war between our families, and I learned from a young age to never trust a Paladino.
But I never expected to be so captivated by the daughter of the very man I long to kill.
The sight of her, dancing in another mans arms, ignites a fury so powerful it catches me off guard.
My interest in her is dangerous, and the lines of my loyalty are blurring.
I should hate her.
I do hate her.
At least, that’s what I continue to tell myself.
Sins of Sorrow is a the first book in a duet that features high tension, unparalleled love, and leaves on a cliffhanger. Book two, Sins of Bliss, release in June 2024.

My Review
I fell in love with Sly and Vinnie from the first time they met when they were little children. I could already tell that Sly had fallen first with Vinnie. Yet, it would be years later before he is able to admit it. A big reason is due to their family feud. They really are a Romeo and Juliet love story.
The angsty tension between them was sizzling. I could not get enough and was waiting in anticipation for their first kiss. It did not disappoint.
"I won't kiss you, Vincenza. I won't kiss you unless you kiss me first."
How things are going between Sly and Vinnie.
"You're everything I want and need, piccola ladra.", "I love you, little thief. I vow to always love you." and "Because our love isn't just worth fighting for. It's worth starting a war."
I can't get enough of these two and will be waiting on the edge of my seat for book two. I hope these two bring fire and their families down.
