Book Review: This Wild Catastrophe
She’s a prickly college dropout with scandalous secrets; he’s a cricketer with ruthless focus…when they clash, the heat can only be called this wild catastrophe.
Diner waitress, Queenie Madhavan’s sole aim to attend a party is to forget her imminent homelessness, when she ends up crashing into golden boy, Noah Dumaine. Noah’s smile melts her black cat heart, so she agrees to see where the night takes them. The morning after turns into her worst nightmare, when a scandalous video of the two of them together surfaces.
Hours later, her charming date becomes a ruthless enemy who demands she fake it as his loving girlfriend in exchange for becoming his rent-free roommate. So, the manic Indian cricket fan is forced to live with her most-hated rival team’s prospective player.
An elite cricket camp in Barrons Bay is former player Noah’s ticket to his only dream - batting for the Australian men’s team. But one wild night with a mysterious, curvy girl almost ruins his plans before they begin. You see? She's his coach's goddaughter.
Now, Noah’s plan is simple. Silence the small town gossips by faking a romance with the prickly bookworm. Impress the critics with his batting prowess. And survive the summer with the roommate who wants to wield his bat on him.
Queenie cannot understand why the millionaire needs this camp so bad he’s willing to pretend happy ever after. Noah can’t imagine why the booksmart waitress dropped out of an Ivy League college. But when arguing turns into tenderness, and secrets are revealed, love becomes the wildest catastrophe of them all.
My Review
Queenie and Noah giving me enemies to lovers' vibes are yummy. However, it is nothing compared to the sweet and tender moments that these two shared.
Queenie having Noah sign a contract is funny. It made me think of Lara Jean and Peter signing an agreement in To All the Boys I've Loved Before.
I love Noah calling Queenie "Hellcat and Desi girl". He is a real sweetheart. When Noah shared about caring for his mom when she had cancer, that just pulled at my heartstrings. Queenie was not as comfortable showing off her curves in the beginning with Noah. Yet, the way he looked at her, gave her so much confidence that Queenie found her groove.
I loved the roommates, Ares and Fox. They were a very nice addition to this story. So excited that this is not the last of the gang as I was not ready to say goodbye. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this book today. You will love it.
