Trouble Starts, Pane Follows
Marcus Snider smuggled some diamonds into one of the guitar cases of guitar man front man, David Seymour of the band The Fast Macks. Unfortunately before Marcus can do anything with the diamonds, David dies on the airplane and his wife inherits all his musical instruments. She sends them all off to be auctioned. Now Marcus has to get them back before the Russians get him.
Ashling Pane is a free lance investigator who used to work for the FBI. She gets called on the case to locate the missing diamonds but the stakes have just gotten higher as the courier from the auction house was found murdered in an airport bathroom stall. Ash meets with Paul Roman, a world-class authenticator. Now Ash and Paul are teaming up to get to the bottom of why someone would kill for a rare Stradivarius violin. While Paul and Ash are at Paul’s place they get a rude wake up call by three Russian men who want Paul to hand over the Stradivarius violin. When the police arrive two of the men make off with the violin and the third man is appended. The police reveal the third man’s identify is none other then Anatoli Ivanovich, a world famous wanted man. The bad guys had better watch out as they don’t know who they are messing with in Ash Pane.
I enjoyed Ashling Pane. She has this take charge and I don’t give a damn attitude. Plus has last name suits her, because if you make her mad then she can become a “Pane” in your butt. The storyline was well thought out and interesting. It had enough suspense and adventure to keep me reading till the very end in addition that it also had some humorous parts that made me smile. Trouble Starts, Pane Follows is Mr. Broughton’s first book featuring Ashling Pane. Mr. Broughton has done a good job in creating and shaping Ash to be a character that readers will like for a long time to come. I look forward to continuing this series with Royal Pane Down Under, the next book in this series.
