Audiobook Reviews: Cozy Mysteries

Sometimes moving…
Can be murder.

Search and Rescue dog trainer and amateur sleuth, Eve, is so excited that, after months of searching, her friends, Tiana and Levi, have finally found a house. Once everything is packed up, Tiana hires movers to move everything the short distance between her apartment and their new house… but the movers never arrive at the house.

Eve, Tiana, Aidan, and Levi go looking for them and discover the moving truck abandoned on the side of the road. One of the movers has been murdered and the other one is missing.

Though Tiana’s things have been rifled through, nothing was taken. Eve is worried her friend might be in danger and isn’t willing to wait for the police to solve the case.

Can she crack the case and find the killer?

My Review

This is the first book that I have read in this series. After finishing this book, I am now in the mood to get back into my cozy mystery era. I actually have to admit that I listened to the ALC version of this book. It is solo narrated by Julie McKay. This is my first time listening to an audiobook by Julie but after finishing this ALC, I do want to check out other audiobooks narrated by Julie.

While this is my first book, in this series. I instantly connected with Eve, Aidan, Tiana, and Levi. This also includes Atlas and Willow. I am a dog lover, so whenever there is a dog in a story, I instantly fall in love with them.

I thought I had the story figured out but there was a twist that I did not see coming. A fun story for sure.

Sometimes spring training…

Can be murder.

Search and Rescue dog owner and amateur sleuth, Eve, is excited to take her German Shepherd, Willow, to a friend of a friend who is supposed to help her finish their preparations for the therapy dog test. They discover that tragedy has struck, however, when they arrive at the facility in Fox Glenn.

The trainer has been murdered, and the situation hits way too close to home when Eve learns that she has a series of odd connections with the victim. This investigation goes from just important…to personal.

In the midst of discussing a future with Aidan and planning for the next steps in her training endeavors, Eve embarks upon a quest to get to the truth of what happened to the trainer.

Can she and Willow sniff out the clues and crack the case?

My Review

I am rooting for Eve and Aidan. They do make a good couple, but I know it can't be easy. It seems that wherever they are, the mayhem follows. It is nice to see Willow in action as well. She definitely has the detective nose on her.

When I think of cozy mysteries, I do instantly think of murder mysteries. So, this book made me happy. Eve and Willow were up to the challenge.

I really like that Julie McKay is the narrator for the ALC. It is nice to have the same narrator in a series as you get used to a voice and she is familiar with the characters and it shows with her voice.

A friend in need is…
A murderer?
Search and Rescue dog owner and amateur sleuth, Eve, is delighted that one of her German Shepherds, Willow, is a newly certified therapy dog. She’s also very much looking forward to conducting her own dog training course and is busier than ever…so busy in fact, that at first she doesn’t notice some of her friends acting oddly.

Putting that particular mystery on the back burner, she focuses on preparing for her first dog training class, in which her furbabies, Atlas and Willow, will be the stars of the show.

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a simple obedience demonstration turns into something much darker when Atlas alerts and a body is discovered.

Eve grows increasingly uncomfortable when she realizes that the ties that she has with the victim are way too close for comfort. Surely there can’t be anything sinister in her friends’ odd behavior…could there?

My Review
Another fun book. I quickly am falling into a routine with these books. Quick and easy reads or fast listens if you grabbed the ALC like I did. Julie once again does a great job solo narrating the audiobook.

Willow is growing and quickly learning; especially with the help of Atlas. I love Atlas. Eve's experience of solving cases shows with this story. She knows just what to do and keeps a level head. This is a good thing as this case is not an easy one to solve, but Eve, Atlas and Willow are up to the job.
